Ok now for all of those (us) with an ego answer this question.. now be honest.. how many of you(us) peek out the window to see the crowds? I read somewhere that we all tell our spouses that we are making sure things are working but we are seeing how big the lines are... right?
-
I try not to but about twice a week I move the shade and take a peek. But the honest part is we have security cameras all around the house. We can sit and watch them on the camera and we do. :)
What I found is as soon as they see somebody move the shade and look out they leave. If I step outside, they leave. Somehow they like it better when they don't know they are being watched.

I notice this too if I look out the window, but I'll have to say it's 50/50 if I walk outside....the extroverts roll down the window and start shouting their praises. And that always provides a dose of gratification that I seem to crave.

I look outside a lot.
Mainly to judge how many songs I have playing during the show.
On slow nights I add more. Tonight I am only playing 5, and there are a lot of cars out there.

I have security cameras as well, actually its wireless and i veiw as much as i want.it fits in the palm of my hand... but being outside and hearing to oooos and ahhhs rocks. The lines are getting long and i love it.

I need to get cameras. That would make life much easier.

Funny, we do the same thing and reaction is the same. We try not to go outside because most always they leave. I think it something about sitting in front of someone's house you don't know. We too have security cameras and watch the cars while we watch TV. We like to see how many cars and their attention span. It is always cool when they start to leave and then backup to watch more.

Peak? No way!
I go out the back door, down the ally, across the street and to the neighbors yard.
Some nights I take a chair, a radio and a hot drink! >.d9
Peaking is for sissy's.!

I will admit to once every hour, but that is it. The other times are just to verify the show is running.

So you admit to once an hour..... then claim even more peeking "just to see that the show is running..... right..... >:D
-
The main reason I "watch over" the show is to make sure all is running correctly. I also make note when traffic leaves since this is almost always a sign of a weakly sequenced song. I have no shame, my family and I share the joy. We yell "stopper!" if one is seen.
In the past I pulled back, but I made a significant investment this year in rgb. Consequently, I expect a crowd. In the past I was happy to see a car or 2 parked, but with what I have done this year I would really like to see some traffic... A write up in the paper would be nice too.

Like I said I will not admit to it. I will plead the 5th. <fp.

Make sure if you are using audio, that you don't record it. The US Supreme Court is VERY anal and is anit-audio recording. But I wasn't here to poop on the parade, just trying to keep you from getting in trouble.
I don't have a show, but I can say that I would be looking out WAY too much. I just posted some pictures of me on stilts, so I will be part of the show so I will be peeking without peeking.
The show we just got back from hands out candy canes and talks with everyone and I personally liked it. I'm the extrovert you spoke of though.
I just bought this off newegg. This is by far the cheapest security system I've seen in a really long time.

The way our windows are, I CAN'T peak. If it weren't for the security camera's I'd have no way of knowing what's happening outside!
As other's have mentioned, I both keep tabs on how busy it is and on how the show is running. I now feel I've reached tech nirvana as I have the DVR connected to the home network. I can now check on the house day or night, from home, office, or taxi cab. I have the apps on my phone and ipad. Oh I'm a dork!
I hand out candy canes to the visitors, so I'm outside a bunch. Funny story too...
Had a car outside for a long time "watching the show". I first saw them pull up at perhaps 8:30 PM. It's a guy and a girl, and she's all snuggled up to her man on the driver's side. I handed out candy to perhaps 12 cars (including this one). I went back inside. At 9:00 PM, I went out again to hand out more candy. I noticed this car was still there. A white Lincoln. "Hmm... guess they love Christmas lights."
Ok, it's now 9:45 and the car is still there. NO ONE likes Christmas lights THAT much unless you put up a show yourself. Additionally, I've played this game before, and if you've not, count your blessings. If you suspect something's going on and you don't want to know, don't offer them candy / initiate conversation. Otherwise you're probably gonna see something you'll wish you hadn't! Still have that silhouette BURNED on my retina to this day!!
Car left about 5 minutes later. If they were doing as I suspect... I don't know what to say but admire that guy's... tenacity?
For clarification, the cars windows were VERY tinted. Had they not been COMPLETELY in the dark, I would have either asked them to move along or placed a call to the men in blue. I mean, come on. It's a family friendly show!

Yeah I don't know how people are getting away with posting there videos. I tried to post one on youtube and they sent me a notice that it could not be posted due to copyright infringement. So a extra be carefull to everyone sofa is trying bust everybody for it. I think it is B.S it's not like we're trying to sell them.

i think he meant, recording audio with the security cameras. as in picking up the voices of people in the area...
-
I'll admit to looking every hour or so. Now my wife (who thanks im crazy for my "Hobby") on the other hand gets up and checks about every 10 minutes, and when i am working late she calls and has to report how many cars have stopped every 30 minutes or so.
I'm the one whose Nuts? :-\
-
That's great!!!!! You have a spy!!!
-
I work during the hours my show is running except during lunch for the last 20 minutes of it. So i'm always texting my wife asking if the show is running it scares me when i think it could glitch up and not work.
-
There's a new product, an auto sensing device that ensures the show is running properly.
Wow, I can see the headache in that.
As far as my comment about the recording of audio, I don't remember the subtleties of recording/verses just listening. What I do remember from my law school days is DON'T DO IT. Of course, I really am indifferent if you do it or not, because I'm not the one with the liability.

i have a driveway alert so i can count people coming and going my display is drive thru (can't see from road)
