Working on some stuff for next year and was curious how everything strips the individual wires in the cat5 for their SSC/DSC? Teeth start to hurt after a bit :) My wire stripper isn't small enough.

I use the cutters on my stripper. Just don't apply a lot of pressure or you will cut the wire.

Use strippers like these. Adjustable with stop.

I just use my side cutters. Usually strip a couple at a time, like Kurt said though, easy on the pressure

I use my finger nails.

I didn't strip them, and just melted the cover with the soldering iron. Although I don't have any of the v2 boards which would make that a little harder I would think. On my v1 boards I fed the wires through each hole and then heated them up and applied the solder and then snipped off the extra.

Thanks, Ill try the finger nails and heating. If I would like it better Ill take a look at those strippers. Thank you very much.

Give these a try.. I've used these for 20+years in the electronics industry. Although I use the 22-30ga version, the 16-26 will work great for all around stripping

For plain wire stripping I find this one of the best tools you can buy for this hobby. It should be under everyone's Christmas tree before they take it down this year.

I hve tried many types of strippers and even have a friend who just pinches the wire with needle nose pliers and then pulls the insulation off with his fingers. I finally bought a stripper from home depot that does small ga wire and have not looked back. I needed if for working on model railroad stuff as well so I get dual use from it. Good tools, whatever there are always make a difference in doing any project whether you are building a house or building electronics. I leanred many years ago the it was better to buy a good tool (usually at more money - darn it) and use if for years than buy cheap tools and end up replacing them or getting frustrated.
