Is anyone out there offering to sell 3 or 4 programmed PIC's for the wireless DMX unit?

There is a list in the wiki of people willing to program for you.

But in the long run you are much better off just getting your own pickit and for the future it should be a pickit 3. It is a tool you need to be in this hobby just like wire cutters, soldering iron, etc.

Good point. Actually I bought one and can't wait to start using it.

Thanks again for pointing me in the right direction. One more question, anyone have a diagram to convert ethernet to dmx (my plan is to eliminate the ethernet jack and install a 3-pin xlr jack)?
we don't call it "ethernet" to avoid the confusion that this jack might carry a network protocol stack.
instead, we use "cat5" to talk about the cabling, and "rj45" to talk about the jacks.
in answer to your question... you only need pins "1" and "2" -- 1 carries +DMX and 2 carries -DMX
