This Co-Op is for the Smart String Controller (SSCv4) !!!


Please read this post completely before participating in this Coop.

For any information on any of this equipment please refer to the proper forum and ask your questions there to keep this coop forum clean and easy to follow.


By participating in this Coop you agree that the Coop manager and DLA (as a board and to also include all administrators, moderators, and members) shall not be held responsible for any liability. 



You are joining this Coop at your own risk.  As with any Coop, this Coop is subject to the Forum Coop Rules.

This coop may close when limits of 2500 SSC v4, OR AT DESCRETION OF THE COOP MANAGER.  If limits not reached by Midnight 5/12/13 the coop may be closed.

 KIT 1 WILL INCLUDE ALL PARTS AND THE PCB  but no pigtails!!!
All other Kits are for Pigtail options only.  If you want a certain type of pigtail included you must include them in your order!!!!

PICs will not be pre-programmed in this coop

Kit #1 Smart String Controller v4:  This kit includes parts for the SSC v4+PCB.  Parts + PCB,
Per Kit At Qty 250 - $7.80

Kit #2 Cat5 Pigtail:  This kit will include ONLY the RJ45 pigtail.  The Pigtail is the female connection at the end of the Smart String Controller that the cable coming from the Hub will plug into. 
Per Kit At Qty 250 - $1.65

Kit #3  3 PIN Pigtail:  This kit will include ONLY the 3 pin pigtail.  The 3pin is the male and female and it can be used to connect the strings to the SSC.
Per Kit At Qty 250 - $0.97

Shipping will be by US Postal Service Priority Mail Flat Rate boxes and shipping will be a separate paypal item after items have been paid for, received, sorted and boxed ready for shipment.  I will send out these requests when they are ready to be shipped.*** NOTE ***  Prices above DO NOT include paypal fees which will be added to your final payment not including the shipping costs!!![/s]Insurance Regular, amount of coverage 

$ 0.01 to $ 50.00           $1.91 
50.01 to 100.00             $2.42 
100.01 to 200.00           $2.98 
200.01 to 300.00           $5.00 
300.01 to 5,000.00        $5.00 plus $1.10 for each $100 or fraction thereof over $100.
NOTE:  When adding insurance to your shipping payment use the following formula to calculate the correct cost:  Shipping cost I provide you + the insurance cost from the table above x paypal fee .03 + .30 transaction fee = total you pay.
In your paypal for shipping please tell me the “insurance cost from the table above” you have included.

We cannot be held responsible for you packaged once accepted at the post office and we have a receipt of shipment if it is not insured.

I'm hoping I can reduce my count from 25 for each of the kits, down to 15 each. Let me know if there are any issues with this...I was in the 2nd page of posts, but can't figure out how to edit it.

Had to buy some solder and a new soldering station this morning and just used up a fair bit of my budget so reducing the kits.

Hey all,  remember its your responsibility to add the proper amount insurance on your shipping when sending in your payments.  Please indicate how much insurance you want and add the paypal fee of 3 % to that so it comes out correctly.  Please indicate in your payment the extra is for insurance and how much etc.  Otherwise.,  Im buying ice cream with it.  LOL  J/K

All payments that I have received are up to date.  Everyone take a look and if you don't see that you have paid and you have, let me know.  I have been rejecting payments because of no username on the paypals and I can't determine whos it came from.  Please if you make a payment put your username in the comments and don't forget to select your shipping address.  Ive done coops before and never had to reject any payments but this one is making up for all of the those.

It seems that something at paypal has changed... In the past you just had to put who the money goes to, your username, what you ordered, and select goods.  Now you have to select a shipping address.  I just happened to catch it as it defaulted to just sending money.  Might this be the culprit?

Everyone,  Im so sorry but In my haste to get this coop going and then realizing that Mouser and Digi-key charge me sales tax, I forgot to include that in your totals.  I apologize but I will be sending out new payment requests to cover the sales tax.  With the sales tax added to only the Mouser and Digi-key parts ordered this made the SSC v4 5.28 each.   If you havent sent in your payment yet please hold on as I need to adjust your payments and will be resending.  If you ahve sent in your payment you will be getting a small PM request for it.  Once again Im sorry if I caused anyone pains for having to send in extra thru paypal.  I will be working thru the night to get these out to everyone.

UPDATE:    So yes I know time period to get all payments (including missed sales tax payments) has not expired but I decided to try and get ahead of some things so here is an update on things that I knew were going to take the longest to get here so I could get you the parts you ordered in the least amount of time:

1.  All packing material from Staples has arrived.
2.  Individual bags for the 581-SA102A100JAR have been labeled so not to mix with the KAR.
3.  3 Pin connectors have been ordered from RAY WU
4.  PCB's and pigtails have been ordered.
5.  Priority Boxes from Post Office have arrived.
6.  Labels for large part bags have been made and placed on bags.


Just waiting for the coop to close or all money to come in before ordering parts.   Did contact Mouser and found out that some parts have been backordered until July.  Working on getting these sooner or special order from Manufacturer to see if they can get here sooner.  Will keep you updated......

Still missing some payments from the Tax issue but I couldnt wait any longer.  ( Yes I get impatient very easliy ).  So I ordered all parts.  Those that still need to send in your payments for the sales tax please do so soon.  I have sent out Pm's to those still needing it done.

update:   3 pin pigtails arrived from Ray.  6 heavy heavy boxes!!  they need to be assembled with the o rings and connectors so with over 2000 of them Im going to just put them in your kits and let you assembly them.  For those few that just ordered the pigtails, I will be shipping those out next week.

PCB's and cat 5 connectors are in route to me.

Back ordered parts are still back ordered with no change to the dates.

No cat5 connectors for me (I already have a bunch since I made my own for my last SSCs with a cord long enough to reach the active hub and that way I don't have connections exposed to weather).  I await the shipment.  If you are going to the Academy feel free to bring them there and use my shipping payment to help pay for your travel.

This delay isn't too bad really....as I have a TON of work ahead of me with sequencing....so long as I don't procrastinate until the SSCs come in next month. Now i'm sure you want your office back so fingers crossed by the second week of August you have all the boxes out the door.

Thanks for the personal sacrifice you are making running this coop. Still in awe with the numbers of SSCs that were ordered.

Another update of good news, bad news.

After speaking with Microchip they have agreed to send me 750 chips on July 30.  Thats the good news  the bad is that the rest will be shipped out on Aug 12th.

Woohoo!!!!  After many "Harassing" phone calls daily to beg to move us up on the list to ship out our parts, they have agreed and parts will be here on/around July 30.  Most parts are sorted already so it won't take long after the chips get here to pack things up and ship out to you all.  Get those irons warmed up, tell your significant other that your going into hibernation, and get ready to start assembling the SSCv4!!!

I was about to start retrofitting a bunch of V1s to become V3s.  Now I will wait for V4 to arrive. :)

Fingers crossed that USPS can make the run to border before the weekend....it's a long weekend coming up for me, so I don't mind putting together some SSCs!!

Finally got my hubs all setup in a marine battery boxes so I'm all ready for them to arrive to start testing :)

Never mind the last message. Looked in everything and there was a label that fell off one of the one of the ziplock bags, and found out it was the 10pf...

About 40 shipments will go out Tuesday.  Im taking Monday off to have some elf time with Mrs and the little elves.  Will pickup were I left out packing and shipping on Tuesday.

If anything is wrong in your order let me know via PM.  I tried extra hard this time to be perfect but I do make mistakes in counting past ten.  :-*

I need an icon that shows me taking a deep breathe.   With that said the pretty little Postal worker came today and took all kits but 4 ( and you know who you are and why in a PM )  so I have shipped out everything!  PM if you have any problems with your order.  Enjoy all!!!  Now I can have my office back and clean up before the next coop.........

Should have seen me trying to pick those slipper suckers up with a plastic set of tweezers to put in the bags!!  I had those all over the place.  I can send you some extras if you need.

I was going to attempt to find a local replacement, what is the size? I appreciate the offer and I would say send them now but let me get the ssc's assembled first just in case. I can say your count was spot on for the washers lol. My wife laughed at me when I tried to find it. "You don't really expect to find it do you" was her reply when I tried to enlist help lol
