Do you think it would ever be possible to have a converter so send VSA routines to this device? I understand there wouldn't be any sound, but I've done all of my work in VSA and I'd love to play around with one of these.

Forgive my ignorance what is VSA?

Visual Show Animation by Brookshire Software http://www.brookshiresoftware.com/ - I've only used it for my 3-axis skulls. Works really well to take a song and provide the sequencing automatically.

That would really depend on the whats all is in the VSA file, if its readable, and the demand for a converter. Not sure why you would want to control something like a skull with sound.
-
If you want the skull to speak, then sound would be a good thing. If all you want to do is move the skulls position or perhaps just the eyes, then sound is not necessary.

The goal is to sync the mouth movements of the skull with the music. Similar to what Chris (ctmal) did with his add-ins

Sorry, I meant without sound. The Panther does not support sound.

What about using the Tools and Exporting the items you want to a csv file, and then have a converter that reads the CSV file and creates a seq file.
Looking at an exported CSV file, creating a converter should be fairly easy.
Thoughts?

That would be awesome Scott - Would give everyone yet another choice! I like VSA because it makes syncing you audio to servos sooo easy!! What do you think it will take?

As I did not have any VSA components/hardware, what would make it the easiest would be to have someone export the items they wanted converted up to 512 items as that's the max DMX channels. Of course as a csv file. Then it should be easy to convert it to a SEQ file. I could then send one of my beta panthers with the sd card loaded with the SEQ file for testing.

I can send my joking skelleton's from last year. It is only two channels as the rest was done with V2. This would be how I would use it anyway: Create mouth movements in VSA, export to csv, convert, import into sequencer, build the rest of the show around that. Maybe something Sean can add to xLights and save you some work ;)

Just so you know Panther DMX is running at about 100ms.

Ok, I think I have the converter engine for VSA CSV Export working. Now to get it working in the interface.
-
I know this is an old thread but did you ever get the VSA convertor engine working?
Thanks,
Bob

Sorry, got side tracked with my new job. I honestly have not look at this in some time. I put it back on my to do list. Hopefully I can work on it some this weekend.

Certainly no need to apologize...
I finally got started on a few of my projects and I use VSA on some animated skulls (for Halloween)...
I can see several uses for a stand alone DMX player that I can use VSA routines in...
I have some experience with Arduino programming also so I'm looking forward to a Panther Coop in the future..
