I know that this is a slow time of the year, but this is ridiculous! I've even been gone for a few days and nothing new to read. I guess I need to get a life! <fp. ;D

I was thinking the same thing. <pop..

yep me too..
so i'm looking for an el camino for my son's first car. Chevelle front end..
Looking for a boat to fish, skip etc..
planning pixels and elements.
Ordered some strips and pixels from Dave at holiday coro..
Built a Zues 8, working on a Zues 16.. Have a few other items to assemble..
Looking at buying some minleon light strings (not diyla compatible)
You could go critique my videos.. Looking for more feedback than it looks great as you roll your eyes and tell your wife, he's got not clue <fp.

I wondered this too! I'm only into this hobby for a couple months. I'd think there would be so many more comments, talks about improvements, ideas for new stuff, other fun subjects.
The awesome thing is that there's lots of great info already here. So, although not too many new posts, you guys have been amazing with any questions I've had. Wish I could personally contribute more, but I'm learning. I'd only confuse the issue ;)

Working on the layout of my new spiral tree.
Cutting SPT2 wire, installing vampire plugs and tinning the ends for the 3 LE's on their way.
Sequencing, sequencing and sequencing.

Out in the yard taking things down finally. The glaciers moved in and buried all the equipment in a foot or more of snow and ice. Just now got down to where I could get stuff out!
Yaay Northern Illinois.

I just got everything put away 2 weekends ago. Need to dig some stuff out that I buried and try to sell. No room left! <fp. Been working on completely reorganizing 2 sheds and my garage. Have plans in my head for next years show, but have not started anything yet.
-
I have stuff up from last year still. Mostly candy canes in front lawn frozen in. Will get up to 40 today so maybe in a week I can pull them out.
As for slow around here. I've been doing kitchen renos and just starting to dabble in a little experiment with the EDM rds chip. If I get that working I'll post some updates.

That makes me feel a little better knowing that I'm not the only one. Debated turning on the green lights for St. Patricks day....
-
If you have them up might as well use them.
-
Still here, just decompressing...
-
Soldered up the Panther Player DMX last night, need to figure out how to use it now.. <fp.

Just finished soldering up my new ATX boards. Well, except for the LEDs... I am sooo ignorant of these components.. Had to ask David which lead is positive...

My 80 year old father has been "working his butt off" ... which means he's completed the enhancements to the 17' 1/2 megatree (which was new in 2013).
And as most of you would already know, men of that generation don't use that term often.
The enhancements were as follows:
(1) Added beveled PVC clips to the entire external structure, so attaching the 48 verticals is now purely "snap on" (not more zip ties or wires !!)
(2) Added a reinforced "spine" to the main pole so there is absolutely no bend anymore
(3) Added a few other structural improvements (bigger rebar on a couple places that bent the first year).
(4) Straightened out the main pole before #2.
He also has obtained all the parts and completed the design for (2) new 1/2 megatrees (to replace my mini light trees) which will have 24 10' vertical rgb(s) each.
His new design will allow these two smaller tilt-up 1/2 megatrees to be built fairly quickly in the next month, also using the PVC clips to attach conduit quickly.
We also ordered all the lights for 2014 -- and Ray said they should ship by Saturday (tomorrow) !!

Any way you can expound on the "PVC Clips" I like the idea I just can't envision what your talking about...
Thanks!

Think metal clips used to hang a broom stick. PK and I got a whole bunch from a manufacturer in Ohio. The clips hold PVC which have lights tie wrapped to it. In Taybrynn's case his nodes are in the PVC.

My dad makes clips out of larger size PVC emt to hold the 1/2" PVC emt ... You cut up the larger diamer pipe and the slit it to make clips.
-
And as mms said we are mounting regular ss nodes in the PVC. There are some pictures on my fb page.

I was hoping to get something in this weekend since the front yard melted down to the point where you could put on some boots and navigate it over this last week, but cold snap made it all solid ice :(
Just been working and working. Thanks to the end of XP support, I've sold more new computers in 2014 than i did in 2013!

Well,
My wife threw me out of the office in which I can't blame her. We were planning this for a while. I've built a new office /work shop / studio,to work in. I'm setting up to do netcasts along with my other projects. I wanted to contribute to this hobby of mine, so I've decided to do Christmas Tech. video netcasts to support this hobby. We all post here on the forums and everyone here is great, but I feel that if I can help with an actual visual. This can help people see it. I'll be set up with Skype for video calls, so I hope everyone here will participate. I think it will be fun and informative. I'm on the 3rd coat of Spackle, then I'm ready to orange peel (we do not have smooth walls in Florida he-he) and paint. Then I can move back in. I hope I can finish in time. I'll let you know on my progress.
