I have an Express that will not light the display LEDs or output to lights. I checked the 2700pf cap and it seems fine. I tried a known working 24FJ32GA002 and also swapped out the display chip with no luck. I re-flowed all the joints. I've inspected the chip socket also with no luck. I also verified correct voltage at the regulators. Any ideas please?

I was in your town last Wednesday.
Did you check that the LED's are inserted correctly? If backward you will have those problems described.

Yes they are correct!

Have you checked the fuses with a multimeter?

Yes! Good to go!

Is this a new build or an older one? i.e., has it ever worked? What version board?

V5 board. Built it a few months ago and just trying it out.

As always, please post some close up pictures of the front and back of the board. Did you apply power to both sides of the board?

I've tried to take a few photos and they look like crap. I'll take a few tomorrow in better light!
I do have power, verified with a meter, to both sides.

OK the other thing to check is the the push button switches. If they are inserted wrong they will keep the LE from operating.
check them all carefully.

They are correct. I can see the dimple sticking through.

Here are a few pics. The burn spot on the lower board just happened. I was rechecking the solder joints and didn't realized I still had the damn board plugged in! :(

Greetings,,,
Double check that we haven't missed a reset button not in correctly.
Plug the unit in with the reset button held down continually, and see if that changes anything.

No change Keith!

Greetings,,,
Could you try with a known good dmx signal to see if any of the 16 leds light up, with all channels on?
But it looks like I would check around the pic and the switches, based on what I've read. If you've got another unit that's working, you can compare voltages between the two.

Has the PIC been flashed with the required firmware? I would do some voltage measurements on the regulators to make sure that you have power and especially the 3.3V required to power up the PIC.

Yes pic flashed. Swapped pics also with working unit. Verified regs are in correct location with correct voltage.

Tried a known working signal from working unit and plugged in to non-working with no luck. The DMX status light comes on, but no output.

Well...Looks like one of the 4.7K resistors was broken where it meet the board! Not sure how that happened, but it works fine now! Thanks to everyone for their help!
