I flashed my version 1 dongle with the Version 2 Hex file and now it will not work. I think I need the version 1 Hex but I can not locate it.
Anyone know where I might find it?
Thanks

I can't prove it, but I'm thinking there are only two firmware files for the dongle. 1 for DMX and 1 for Pixelnet. The only difference I remember between the v1 and v2 boards is the added LEDs. But my memory has failed me before, wait to see if someone confirms or denies my memory.

It was the LED's and a jumper that was supposed to put the dongle into test mode but the test mode part of the firmware was never completed.

As Jim indicated, there are two firmware's. One for DMX output and the other for PixelNet. Make sure that you have the correct firmware loaded and that the sequence software is configured to work with the DMX dongle with the correct output.

Thanks Guys!
I have used the proper hex file and the proper check sum comes up when I program it with the PicKit 3
When I go to device manager in Windows, the notification tone goes off when I plug in the dongle, but the com port does not show up in the list.
I have another dongle and it gets the notification tone and it shows com port 7 on the list.
What should I check now?
Thanks

Make sure that you have installed the FTDI drivers prior to plugging the USB dongle in. If not, then Windows will install its driver which will not work.

The FTDI drivers are installed. Check Sum is correct. Still not seeing it in the Com Port list.. My other dongle is working fine. What else do I look at now?
Thanks

Try plugging it into another USB port, I have had that happen when using two different USB dongles.

Did the dongle work prior to the firmware update?

Also, when you get the notification tone, what changes in the hardware listing? Somewhere there is a USB device being added and you will need to see what it is.

The dongle was showing up as "other device - DLP USB245M" on the device manager list. When I saw this I check to see if the driver was installed. I had windows install the driver and WA- LA the dongle has an assigned Com Port It works fine!
Feel kind of dumb for not realizing this sooner but THANKS to you I found the problem!
THANKS VERY MUCH for all your help!!!
