been having issues with my ssc v4's. i do the steps in pickit 3 to flash the chip, firmware is correct. as soon as i apply power to the ssc so that i can assign the channel numbers, the lights start flashing as if i've hit the transmit button on the ssc utility for program. swapped chips to confirm it wasn't a bad chip and i get the same results on two different controllers. i did have one programmed using the correct utility listed under the ssc v4 but the color order was bgr instead of rgb. when i reflashed the pic to try again, now i am getting the flashing of the lights as soon as the program jumper is applied and nothing responds in my sequencer.

so i resorted back to my laptop with windows 7 and the controller will now let me program it to the correct start channel, but it starts with blue, then green, then red. i talked to ray and he says that it is supposed to be rgb with the 2811's being red for power, blue for ground, and green for data. i have all of that correct on the new, first time programmed sscv4. from what i'm reading, i can't use the zues programmer with the color order option because it doesn't work on ssc's? my laptop is fresh, no dla stuff anywhere so i know i have the latest that is available from the wiki under sscv4 firmware. checksum d3d8.

Which Smart String Device Type are you selecting in the Smart String Utility?

i am choosing string since that is what i am using. i connected some older 1804 nodes to the same controller using the same ssc utility and they are correct RGB. i will just have to make sure i choose the correct order in xlights on all my new elements. the new lights that ray has sent are BGR even though he says they shouldn't be. oh well, as long as they work when they're supposed to.

This is what my other thread was about....apparently picking the different string types is really about the color order.

I struggle similarly with new string types a couple of years ago and finally put this table together. I think it's accurate but no guarantees. As mentioned by others, I've found that color order can change from year to year for the "same" device, so some experimentation often required.
Old String Types Color Order
Strings RGB
Flexible Strips (DLA 1809) GRB
Flexible Strips 2 (1809) BGR
Flexible Strips (1812) BGR
Rectangle (TM1804) GBR
Rectangle (TM1809) BGR
Square Modules BRG
Rigid Ribbon RGB
New String Types
Technicolor 2811 RGB
Rectangle 2811 BRG
Flex Strips 2811 BRG
Pixabulb 2811/2812 RGB
Technicolor 2811 5V RGB

I did not buy my 2811s from Ray but mine are bgr.
