Title: How does one get permission to use the songs?

Just wondering how so many Christmas videos are on you tube but mine keep getting pulled. How does one get permission to use the songs?

Sometimes it's just a matter of challenging you tube and claiming that the show is not for profit.  There are also artists that are a bit more restrictive on how their music is used than others.  If you have seen a vid that is using the same song that you did, you could always contact the owner and see what they did.

When you upload the video make sure you credit the music to it's author.  Else try vimeo.
