Congrats. When did your order show shipped?

Just in time for St. Pat's Day too! I',m GREEN with envy :-)

Congrats. When did your order show shipped?
I sliced the shipping invoice in three in my haste to open the box, but I can see that it says 2011-3-10.
-
THanks. I was wondering if you had followed the order status on the store site (the "my orders" link) and if there had been a date associated with your "shipped" status there.

What date did you place your order with Ray?

What date did you place your order with Ray?
The very first morning that we could.
-
Wow that was quick! Congrats!
-
Did you have to "extend" your order before it shipped ? I'm down to 3 days on the aliexpress countdown.
-
PICTURES!!!!!!!! <md..
-
Yes I did extend it, after seeing someone post on here that they had to extend, I checked my order and had the same request to extend on it.
-
PICTURES!!!!!!!! <md..
Let me see what I can do.
-
Mine shipped a couple days ago ... there is a tracking number, but its non usable currently. Interesting, I selected DHL, but it shipped with another carrier instead, at least thats what it says online.
-
The Remark section showed the real tracking number. I checked yesterday (showed Hong Kong) ... checked again today ... shows "out for delivery" !!!! WOW!
-
Yah, mine was the same way. Showed it left Hong Kong Sunday, showed up at my door step today.
-
PICTURES!!!!!!!! <md..
Here you go Will. A rainy/snowy night here in New York so I had the time. I also learned how to post pictures here so thanks! George
-
wow, they are sooooo pretty.......... >.d9
-
They look even prettier when they are powered up.......... ;D

They certainly do Ollie, They certainly do! :o And BRIGHT too!!!!!

With all 120 nodes on at 100% it draws about 4.78 amps (12.149V in and 9.247V at the far end of the string). After about 2 minutes the reel gets pretty warm, glad mine are going to be deployed on a metal gutter (plenty of heat sinking) since we don't have any snow here for cooling at christmas time ::)
-
How were you testing those?
I got my shipment today and everything looked good and as expected.
The leads on the SS items are nice and longer per RJ' specs.
I can't believe how much stuff was put into one box, but everything
was wrapped pretty well and no damage at all. The box did look like
it had made a long long trip. All the modules/nodes were in anti static
bags. Some stuff was wrapped in bubble wrap. as well.
One thing I noticed is the ODOR ... not so good. Esp. the smart string
nodes ... man did those stink! Probably all the waterproofing silicone or
something.
When I saw the SS Nodes I ordered, I was shocked at how
HUGE they are, esp. when compared to 100ct minis. Wow, these are lights
on steroids by comparison ... lol .
Very happy right now, but no way to test most of it.

Since all the controllers and hubs are at least 2 to 3 months away (due to long lead times on some items), I decided to see if I could bit bang up a simple controller.......... Nothing fancy just something to turn on all the pixels to reassure myself that my pixel purchase performed......... (Actually just modified a standard blink program)
Unfortunately we have just moved office and most of my development stuff is in storage, so I unearthed an Arduino board (16Mhz ATmega238) and had a play. The Arduino compiler is pretty ineffiecient and is really too slow to succesfully talk the TM180X protocol, but if you use the fast Input Output library it almost gets into the ballpark figures from the datasheet.
Much to my surprise both the strips and rectangular pixels I tested are quite happy with the pulse stream, and turn all the pixels on. Don't leave it on at 100% for too long whilst reeled up, it gets really hot really quickly............
Be careful with the wire connections, the wire colours are different for the strips and the rectangular pixels........ and of course make sure you put the pulse stream into the Din pin and not the Dout pin. My strips came with the Input wires at the inner part of the reel
-
On the flex strands, is every LED controlable or is it group of 3s.
-
Every LED is individually controllable, the TM1809 chip controls 9 LEDS (3 X RGB LEDS), the smallest length you can cut into is 3 RGB LEDS long (approx 100mm long).
Hope that helps........
Cheers
-
Perfect. I didn't know the TM1809 would control 9 LEDs. Thank you.
-
If your interested here is a copy of the datasheet for the TM1809 chips used in the flexible strip.
Cheers
-
How many individual nodes are there on a single 4m flex strip? 120? I am a litte confused because the online listing says 30 pieces, but I am assuming that is per meter?
-
Your guesses are 100% correct. 120 nodes and 30 per meter.
-
Excellent! I placed my order on Sunday and they should arrive tomorrow. Of course, now I just need to wait for the contoller. I can't wait, but guess I will have too!

new to this discussion, are these the ones that are from the coop? Or did you order them from www.aliexpress.com
Thanks
-
the lights themselves aren't offered in a coop, but there are links in the wiki to get them
