Title: Best C9 LED strings or bulbs?
Post by: Mickpat on October 08, 2011, 03:27:18 pm
For my display, I currently have 3 x 100' of C9 incandescent blubs. Full red, green and white stands.  This year I would like to move to LED using green, red and warm white.  Any advice on the best strings to get or if I should just us replacement bulbs?  Thanks!

For the brightness I would go CDI but very pricey. If price is an issue then I would go with any thing I can get after christmas

I believe minleon makes a good one. For c9 you need 5 leds per bulb. And if you do fading make sure it is rated to do that. C9 strings are not very bright. C7 strings can be pretty bright.

What is the url for cdi site? My neighbor likes the c9 lights in inca, but he was unhappy with the c9 with the led covers on them he used as a replacement. Me i prefer minis.

I love the C9 leds that I bought there. I think they look like jewels. I have them all horizontal with the point facing the street.

I second going with Paul's LED retros (CDI).  They are fairly reasonable compared to the eBay price.  If you are a member of Planet Christmas Forum, CDI extends an additional discount.  Depends on time of year, but I would say they should be at 10%.  Check their forum for the "code"

If you have a problem with any product from CDI, Paul will fix it. I had a handful of green C9 retros that were DOA and he sent out replacements immediately. I had some others go out during the Christmas show and he replaced those also. If you send him an email and tell him you are from DLA, he will probably give you a discount.
Last summer, I bought some C7 retros on ebay and had half a dozen die in the first week of my Christmas show. They would not replace them because it was past the 45 day dispute time.
Just my experience. YMMV

Thanks for the advice.  I ordered 400 bulbs from CDI.   Looking forward to seeing how bright they are.
