I know the transformers are not available anymore for the most part. I was just wondering if RJ or someone was going to design a new version that uses a more readily available transformer? Or is this going to be a discontinued item?
Thanks

I think RJ has worked on this and he is waiting for beta testing

I don't know what he would have to test. Unless he added functionality to it, it is the same item with some components moved to fit a different transformer.

Maybe to make sure the parts fit on the board and in the case :P

I don't think that you would need a beta test for that. Building one board should settle that issue. This unit would be a good one for a new coop manager to get their feet wet with so perhaps RJ may be waiting for that coop to order the new boards. I could be wrong but that would make the most sense to me.

I don't believe you built a SSR-DMX. So version 1 with a smaller transformer was a tight fit. Moving parts around to accommodate a larger transformer is a reason for someone to build a ssr4 to be sure it all the parts fit properly. RJ is very busy working on the conductor so for him to build a board at this time in not in the cards.

Because until the 2 beta testers tell me its ready then its not ready. I always let the testers tell me if it's ready for other people. When you design stuff you know it well and will do theing exactly the way yuo should. Other testers find things that can be done different and cause problems. Also I only have limited time for testing with everything going on right now so they are willing to invest enough time to find any problems for me.
They have parts in route and should have them built in a few days I expect. Even thought it sometimes might not look like much is going on believe when I say we are full throttle all the time any more.
There is the slightly modded SSC being tested to ready it for a coop to include the new 16 port passive ss hub. I am finishing the conductor to go to beta and the new Dumb String controller is in the works. I am also working on some real are you sitting down news to deliver at the Academy.
So now you know, and knowing is half the battle! ;D

this is further along that i had expected with RJ's busy schedule. Thanks!

I could use the cloning technology that RJ must have access to in order to get so much done at once!

Most of us don't have an understanding of the amount of time that it takes to produce these products because RJ does it with ease. Not only design and build time but waiting for parts, board revisions etc.
