This Co-Op is for the SSC v2, Active 16 Port Hub, Lynx Combiner, 4 Port Passive Hub, and the new never before seen 16 Port Passive Hub!!!
Please read this post completely before participating in this Coop.
For any information on any of this equipment please refer to the proper forum and ask your questions there to keep this coop forum clean and easy to follow.

This coop may close when limits of 2000 SSC v2, 150 Active Hub, 150 Combiner, 250 4 Port or 300 new Passive hub have been reached or at 9 a.m. PST on 4/30/2012 OR AT DESCRETION OF THE COOP MANAGER.
ALL KITS WILL INCLUDE ALL PARTS AND THE PCB!!!!

Kit #1 Smart String Controller v2: This kit includes parts for the SSC v2+PCB. Additionally this kit will also include the RJ45 pigtail. This is being done to make it easier and cheaper to obtain this part. The Pigtail is the female connection at the end of the Smart String Controller that the cable coming from the Hub will plug into. Parts, PCB, and Pigtail.
Per Kit At Qty 250 - $10.04
Kit #2 Active 16 Port Hub: The Hub can support up to 16 Smart String Controllers. Parts + PCB
Per Kit At Qty 50 - $61.74
Kit #3 4 Port Passive Hub: This kit includes Parts + PCB
Per Kit At Qty 50 - $11.91
Kit #4 Combiner: This kit includes all Parts + PCB
Per Kit At Qty 50 - $9.06
Kit #5 NEW 16 Port Passive Hub: This kit includes all Parts + PCB.
Per Kit At Qty 100 - $41.52

Shipping will be by US Postal Service Priority Mail Flat Rate boxes and shipping will be a separate paypal item.

I think we may be over. Due to the order for the pigtails being already made due to the Aether coop and the time it takes to get them made, we only have so many pigtails so running over could be a issue. I believe the coop manager will be in to lock the coop shortly so any orders put in over may have to be dropped out. Just post this so no one is let down by continuing to order.

i am building a tool in the nutcracker that will be a auto configurator. It will estimate the price of building any size rgb tree.
One thing i have loaded into my mysql tables is the estimated price of the kits. I will use the estimated price for this year , before the volume discount.
Here is the data i have so far from last years and this years coop

There seems to be some confusion in the first few payment PM's I have sent out. The final cost for the parts and pcbs that you owe include : Parts and PCBS, coop fee, paypal fee and the .30 transaction fee paypal charges me. This is why when you do the math of the parts costs they are not matching what your total owed is equaling. Please keep that in mind and I will ammend the next group of payment requests pm's for a bettre understanding.

Correct!! Insurance can be added when I send out the shipping payment requests. This payment is to get the parts and PCBs paid for and coming. I will be sending out shipping payments when I get parts sorted and into the proper flat rate box, then you can add insurance if you desire.

First post, quick pay, you get.
IF the unpaid units go up for sale, you will be expected to pay immediately - if it drags out too long, the quotes will expire, which could create a mess if the price changes.

I agree with chrisatpsu on this. There should be not talk of dibs or naming members that have not paid before the dead line. There could be multiple reasons members have not paid and each of us do not know what that reason is or for that matter need to know. It is between the coop manager running the coop and the members that are participating in the coop when and how the payments are being made. The whole reason for the dead line is so everyone publicly knows what the sequence of events are (payments , ordering of parts, shipping, etc, ...) it does not matter if the payment is made right after the coop manager sends out the payment info or the last hour of the dead line, it's the same thing. As a coop manager we are watching the list sending out reminders that the payment is due. Life happens and people have to back out. We do not want members feeling that the "Evil Eye" is watching and waiting. We welcome everyone and do not what anyone shying away as the DLA family with the help of RJ we are able to build some cool stuff and help each other out. So please tone down the "looks like there this many left to pay" talk. The coop manager is well aware of what is going on the the payments. Freebird is posting as soon as he knows kits are up for grabs. So please be aware of this as I know it is not really meant in a negative way but it does come across that way. Sorry Freebird to step in on your coop.

Thanks all for the shipping payment notification posts. Don't worry if I havent sent your item and you paid for shipping a week ago etc. Im doing the shipping in batches. so even though you have paid for shipping your items may not ship until I can get them all boxed up etc. This is a large COOP and I am trying to be very cautious on getting everything right. You should get an email notification from Paypal when I print out your shipping labels. When you get that email, your package will be mailed within a few days of that.

Yes Elf 38 does a good job, I had to send Elf 12 to a timeout a few times for not counting correctly. Good thing Mrs Claus looks his stuff over.
UPDATE: The rest of this week will be more sorting and packing. I was informed by Mrs Claus that I have to spend the weekend on the ocean beach, So I will be taking the weekend off and get my batteries refreshed. Next week more batches will be sent out. Keep an eye on your emails, as when I print out the packing slip you should get notification.

Box arrived yesterday looking like it had gone through World War III. However, all was intact and good (how the postal service could abuse the box this way -- I think they ran it over with a truck!)

I usually do a ssc in about 20 minutes. However that is because I test every connection with a meter before the next step to make sure I don't have any bad solder spots in case I have a problem after assembly. Then there's programming the pic and setting the start channels.

I think 20 min is a good estimate. I don't test every thing with a meter but I use my optivisor to look over every solder joint and touch up any that look suspect.

On my build of the new SSC, the check sum from the Pic Kit 3 didn't match the checksum in the Wiki, after programming the Pic.
I tried and tried to re-flash the code to the Pic (Pic Kit 3 reported that the Pic flashed correctly, and even read back the flashed code) but the checksum just wouldn't match.
Scratched my head for a while, then I swapped out the Pic Kit 3 RED usb cable that came with the Pic kit 3 with another USB cable, then it flashed correctly and the checksum matched.
Quite surprised that the RED usb cable failed <fp.

I timed my build today. From start to finish (that's solder, cutting pigtails, flashing the firmware, then programming the start addresses, then inserting them in the pipe with caps and soldering the pigtails) it takes me 30 mins per SSC.
All worked first time 8)

If you look at the first page of this thread you will see a list of all of the members of this coop. The last column shows which members have had their order shipped. As of this post, yours has not shipped yet but as others have said, this was a huge coop and huge coops take time to complete.

If you have come up short some of the 16 pin dual row headers for the hubs I know why.
Every one of my hubs had double the number of headers needed in each kit.
I would rathar have extras than be short but I bet you have come up short in finishing out your kits. The elves were overly efficient. ;D

ATTENTION ALL!!! The pigtails that you have received and what was delivered from China are not what was requested. These pigtails are made of solid wire not stranded wire as RJ asked for. I spoke to RJ and he informed me these were not a big deal but he is not happy they are not what was ordered. They will still work. Just note that they are not stranded. Thanks to PK for bringing this to my attention.

just checked, and it is also the same problem with the recent AetherII kits as well.

Not an issue with the Aethers since power is not going in over the cat 5. Worst case scenario is a broken wire and lost signal. With the SSC you could get a short and pop your fuse on the hub. Then spend a while trying to figure out what caused it...

A short is not the issue. It would be a broken strand. I would just bend the pigtails short.
I will try to find out why the change and make sure we get the stranded on the next batch. it was the same company and part number just typical issue with having things made in china.

With every little part I put into a bag it means someones light is going to turn on, bringing a smile to someone elses face. So I'm helping bring smiles to the world and happiness to people. Every little part it will bring 100 times the happiness of those looking at the lights dance etc. Some people have many talents like sequencing, or electronic troubleshooting help, or just the raw talent and vision to see how to make things go blinky, what I have to offer is my time and the ability to count to 2000. Thats why I do it. Bringing smiles to the worlds faces is what we are all doing here. That is our ultimate goal.
NOTE everyone. All packages should ship out this week if the post office dosent ban me.

Yes well now I have to test it in LOR next. That is the next step as LOR is the typical sequencing software I use, but I find it easier to test things in LSP first. But I have to figure out I will sequence pixels in LOR or if I will even be able to. I know LOR has some limitations far as that goes. It does dmx/rgb just great. Then figuring up channel configuration. THEN time for sequencing!! Lol
