I got asked alot at the academy about the next etd coop. How many people need them? I have the ones that I did not pass on inspection when I did them for us and will need to rework them myself to post as I have a chuck of money tied up in them. I am wondering if I get them done is that enough or are we in need of working on a new coop and the work I need to do to get that lined up. (Chips put on for us)
Post if you are waiting so I can get an idea of what I need to be doing.

I need one, if there is supply I would buy 2.
Thanks

I would like to have a spare but will give other people who have none first shot. But if you do have a coop I will jump in then.

I'd like (1). It's a spare I'll wait for a coop also if needs be. <pop..

As I am just starting in DYI, I need everything! So I am interested in getting one.
-
I am also starting to move toward DIY so I would like at least 1 and possibly a spare.
-
I missed the first Coop because of moving.
Will need at least one for this year.
-
Most likely will need one more as spare.
-
Another one starting to move toward DIY so 1 and possibly a spare as well.
-
I would need one to act as a spare as well.

RJ
I spoke to you at the Academy about this. And I need two please!

I would be in for 1 maybe 2.

Ok oh boy I guess I better get these boards ready soon and start looking at a coop.

That's the one piece I'm still needing. Got lots of pretty SSCs and Aether II's(when my mailman delivers), enough LE's, an MR16, and absolutely NOTHING to drive them with. I'd love one!!!
-
I need one. Just getting stared. Got a soldering station the other day to start on my lynx express. Reading up and trying to get comfortable before I start. How much do the etherdongles cost?
-
Fireandice ... One way to get price estimates is to go look at previous coops ...
Here is the pricing breakdown based on the initial quotes.
Pricing is in US Dollars and includes PayPal and Coop fees.
We have a base goal of 100 kits. This goal allows the cost per unit to drop low enough to make it cost effective to run the coop. Below this number we will not make the order.
EtherDongle Kit With PCB, parts and case.
Per Kit At Qty 100 - $93.00
This is an estimate. As always higher numbers reduce pricing and ...

randyy, I'm the same. I have everything I need but the dongle.

To test items, you can purchase a $20 cable (programmer) from David Moore at Holdiday Coro.
This has a USB connection on one end, and a RJ45 connector on the other end, with a little bit of circuitry between. Along with a software device driver you can transmit DMX to other devices.
It uses the software to perform DMX functions, so it is not an efficient solution and you would not choose it to drive your light show, but it is something can be used for testing devices. It will NOT do pixelnet, but MR16s, Aethers, LEs, and any other DMX device will work.
BTW, its primary purpose is to make it easier to program HolidayCoro's 3-channel controllers -- which are assigned channels over cat5.
"USB DMX Module Programmer and LOR DMX Output Dongle (Version 2)"

No, I don't receive a commission, I'm just a happy customer. A $20 cable that allows you to test your devices and joins the other tools in your toolbox makes sense to me. :)

Thanks, Steve. I'll check out the site. <wd..
-
I could surely use one....maybe two...
Thanks
-
I'd probably order 2 if the PIC code is fixed.
-
wanting to get started, I have nothing yet, probably would take one.
-
I'd probably order 2 if the PIC code is fixed.
What is the problem with the PIC code? i don't recall hearing anything about a problem.

ahh. i forgot about that one. thanks for locating and sharing it.
-
I need two, but could live with one.
-
Three for me please! <;d
-
New here, so one or two thanks
-
If I've done my homework correctly, I'd need one Ether Dongle and one Conductor to run the show fully stand-alone. That is what I'm ultimately after.
-
With the COOPs taking about 2 to 3 months from 1st posting to actually getting parts in and shipped to end user. (Not COOPs Manager fault, just the time it takes to get things organized, sorted, and shipping time)
I hope a COOP comes out soon for the EtherDongles, or we wont have them for Christmas.
-
Found my way to this forum in search of this elusive ether dongle so 2 for me please sir.
-
Looks like an option for us LOR/Lynx users. I'm thinking I would be in for two along with the combiner/splitter "thingy". :)
-
I'm trying to use this with LOR software and Renard equipment I would like to get 1.
Thanks.
-
I will be buying one if there is another coop
-
If the conductor is coming out and I need a etherdongle to run it.
I will need one I think :-\
Only running maybe 2 to 4 smart strings. At the most.
-
If there is still time or EtherDongle units available I'd be interested in at least one (1).
Thanks

I would say there is more than enough for a good size coop. Lets get one started soon. <pop..
-
I need +1 minimum, ideally 2 for this year
-
I need one as I am starting from scratch.
-
I would like 1 please

I definitely need at least 1. Would like 2.

Mort, It depends on your set up. If you use DMX firmware on the DMX dongle you will get 512 DMX channels out. If you use Pixelnet firmware on the DMX dongle and insert an Active SS Hub to your set up, you will get 4096 Pixelnet channels out which you could use on your SSC's (You said you have 2-4 SSC's so you would only need approximately 520 channels). At the same time you could get 512 DMX channels off of the same Active Hub by using DMX out on the Hub. Moderators, please feel free to move this, as I do not want this thread to go off track. Hope this helps, George

RJ,
Can you give a possible timeframe for when the next EtherDongle coop/PCB's might go in to affect? Anxious guy over here.
Thanks,
Mike Hill

I am also going to want 2. Now just watching for the Coop to start.

I have one but it still has not worked. The lights on the MagJack wont light up. I would like to build another one to use as a refrence.
-
Did you install the firmware on the board. Until you do the MagJack lights will NOT light up.
-
In need of 1 for this year.
-
would these make it in and shipped out to the user before Thanksgiving??? tic..tic...tic... time is running out to get them in and made before lights go on. <yk..
-
It really would be helpful to get an update on the upcoming coops -- which are in the planning, and when they might start and complete.
Requested EtD count is was well over 80 when I last reviewed the list.
I know that there is a big demand for Conductors and Slaves as well... (I'm at the top of that list! :) )
-
I need mine for Halloween if possible. Like Steve said, it would be nice to know what, if any, are coming up so I know what to spend my money on or save it for the coop.
-
As mush as I need an Etherdongle this year and the conductor next, I cannot wait any longer.
So I will now have to buy a E1.31 unit from another company.
Too much testing on new display and has to start next month.

In the works.

As I posted already. the coop manager starts it when he is ready. I do not even know when it will start.

One quick note
THIS IS NOT THE COOP
This was just a thread to determine the need for a coop. Posting in this thread DOES NOT put you in the coop that is now running. All coops are run from the coop area only. If you want an EtherDongle you need to put you postin the Eherdongle coop thread that is currently running in the coop area or you will NOT be included.
