The Porch / Lynx Express Config
« on: March 07, 2023, 03:52:01 pm »
I never found the Light Curve Utility (Lynx Light Curve Utility) that was mentioned in an instructional video.  Another DLA member and I slapped together a program that would generate a CURVE.XML entry for copy and pasting, but neither one of us seem to have it anymore.   Was the CURVE concept dropped when Minion sold commercial Expresses?

Thanks Joe but I already have the XML file.  What I would like is the breakdown or layout of the file so that if needed, I could manually modify or create a new curve for the dimming levels of new strings or LED lights that may wind up in the display in the future.

I fully agree with the others on this thread.  It was also my start in light Animation and still have my share of LE's and plan on continuing to use them for as long as they or I last.  Heck, I still have a few more LE's to build.  Unlike many of the other sites, this one always felt more like a group of friends than just a place to get equipment and information.  One quick ask of RJ if he is still looking or has the time.  At one time you had a program that allowed people to create light curves for the LE.  I plan on using them for years to come and as the light types are still changing, it would be great if I could make changes or add light curves for the LE to keep it functioning properly with these new light types.  IS there a way to put that program back up in the WIKI for the days remaining or post or email the XML file layout so that I and others still using the LE to update the light curves.  I know that I should have asked sooner but things come up that delays that at times.  If not, it's not a show stopper but it would be nice, even with just the file layout to manually create them.  Either way, thanks again RJ for all that you have done for all of us and the massive contributions you have made to this hobby.

Hello Danny,

I may have just what you need!   EtherDongle, but it may be without a case.  Is that okay?

Good Morning,

Does anyone have an Ethernet Dongle (or kit) they are no longer using? I need one as a backup and possibly to expand my show.

Thank you and God's Blessings,
Danny

The Porch / Thank you RJ!

I can thankfully say, RJ made it possible for our show, and many of our friends and neighbors shows, to be practical and reliable, way back in 2007 (and before) -- to today!  It was RJ’s insight, dedication, education, and thoughtfulness that made amateur light shows not only possible, but popular!  Some of the folks I’ve met on diylightanimation (DLA) have become dear friends, we share many interests, most of all RJ’s goodies driving seasonal light shows.

RJ, I retired about the time I joined your site.  I couldn’t have done a show without your designs, the COOPs, your exceptional COOP managers, the admins and members.  It’s been a pleasure and I’ll be indebted to you and other diylightanimation site members forever.  I can only hope I’ve contributed back to the community a hundredth of what you and other members have contributed.

For the record, all of my Freestyles and SSR’s are still working, as good as if they were brand new.  My favorites are still the Smarthub and the Pixelnet Dongle, wow, what a concept turned practical and flawlessly functional.  (I recently acquired an original Lynx dimmer, just for my collection!)

My favorite quote is "If it was easy, everybody would be doin' it!!!"  RJ made it possible, and easy, for nearly everyone to be doing it!!  Thank you RJ, and thank you diylightanimation members!  Enjoy your retirement RJ, you deserve it!  (You'll be busier retired than you ever were when working!! :) )

I’ll close with the most popular picture I ever posted on diylightanimation, dedicated to RJ. :)

Thank you for the information!  Is the code/HEX still available for the PIC?  Did this design actually work, can you point me to the documentation?

Thank you!

Hello!   Do you have the firmware and the software for it?  Several years ago I tried tracking both down and was unsuccessful.

Thank you!

cleaning out my storage and found a unassembled Panther DMX player.  All documentation is on this site.
It is new, never even out of the packaging and complete.
I am looking for 20.00 plus 14.95 shipping USPS medium flatrate.
This would be a great starter bundle for anyone looking for a dmx controller.

Great starter player.

Sale/Trade / Re: Selling SSC(s) in PVC with RayWu pigtails

Good morning!

What's your asking price for the SSC's and do you have a list of your other goodies for sale?

Thank you!

I have a TON of fully upgraded v2 SSC(s) and v4 SSC(s) (smart string controllers) ... in PVC with caps and pigtails ... with cat5 on one end (to hub side) and ray wu female 3 pin connector on other side.

They work with SS active or SS passive hubs.

Make offer -- I just need to find a good home for these.

This will require the SS Utility and Pickit 2 or 3 to reflash and/or reprogram pixelnet channel assignments.

I've also found that if you ever have a SSC go out, you can pull out the chip from the failed SSC and swap it
with one of these good ones and your up and running with no programming.  I did it was a V4 last year.

I also have a few other things if your looking for something.

Hi John,

Thank you, but no.  Looking for the utility that can write the curves for the Express-Config program, it was called "Lynx Light Curve Utility".  Instead of using the ones that come with "Lynx Express Configuration Utility" (the link you provided) curve.xml, one could write a custom curve for the specific lights they owned.

Next week I'll be looking for hens teeth!  :) :)

Thank you!!

:) joe

Can you help a fellow out?  :)   Thank you!!

Good Morning DIYLA,

I would like to buy (new or used), LED Mini lights, Blue green, red and white. I would also like to buy RGB Bullet nodes and flex strips with the 2811 Chip (new or used).

Does anybody have any of these items they would like to unload?

Thank you!
