Sale/Trade / Misc —Zeus/Active Hub/SSR4/PassiveHub
« on: January 20, 2018, 07:54:19 pm »
Cleaning out the gear I haven’t used in a while. All hasn’t been ran for a couple seasons. All prices are shipped. If it seems high make me an offer.

Zeus 16 (Missing a couple screws on inputs) - $40
Zeus 8 (untested-never used) - $25
Active Hub (Has some replacement fuses soldered on to the bottom of the board)-not sure all outputs are working as I have no way to test anymore - $SOLD
Passive Hub (At least one output not working-blank jack in its place) -there may be more not working but they will just need fuses.  - $SOLD
SSR4 (untested-never used) - SOLD
Lynx wireless TX (no power supply) - $10

I may find more laying around as I keep cleaning.

I did just my home in 2008 and hAve done two since 2009 ... My neighbor is probably regretting the day he asked to be a part of it !!!   But we make a good team.
The reason I ask is that my neighbor has expressed a lot of interest in adding his house to my display. Which would be great since my front yard is so small.
Do you sequence it as one giant "canvas" or in two separate?

After 4 years I think I finally have figured out how to sequence using my current objects.

I'm sure that will all change as I add new objects to the display, but it was sure easier this year to add a new song when the objects  I had to sequence didn't change.

Thanks to a combo of LSP and Nutcracker!

Just use something like this, pixelnet splitter would be better but these work in a pinch.

mostly like no but I am sure someone will prove me wrong  >:D

The ETD puts out pixelnet and not ethernet packets. If the switch/hub does any error checking and or boost the signal it won't work.
You just need two RJ-45 jacks connected together.
Take a spare SSR4 board with nothing on it but the two RJ-45 jacks
Take 2 RJ-45 jacks and a short piece of cat5 cable and solder the wires to the pins (pin 1 to pin 1, pin 2 to pin 2, etc)

If you have a hub/switch laying around you can test it yourself. Just don't plug it into an outlet for power.
Connect a cable from a working network port and plug into one port on your unpowered switch. Then take a second cable from that hub (unpowered) and plug into something that will show active (laptop) If you see a connection and or lights flashing on the socket then you can use it.

clear as mud?

(hmm, did I just counter point myself??)

Rick,

Could I then just use to cat5 pigtails that come with the SSC coops?  Combine the wires and crimp on a RJ45 male to plug into my computer?

I am trying to get an active hub moved off of my roof, but have ran into a little snag.

I currently run an etherdongle to an active Hub on my roof. This then pixelnet outputs to another active hub on the south side of my house.

I would like to get the active hub on the ground, but on the north side of my house.

without running a very long cat5 around my house, can I use a simple ethernet hub or switch at my computer & etherdongle which is centrally located to send data from the etherdongle in both directions?

Lynx Zeus / Re: stray lights
« on: December 15, 2014, 12:41:18 am »
I've seen this with my Zeus 16 when I plug in power with lights of, computer off. It goes away as soon as I boot up the computer and open xlights and check "output to lights". Then it doesn't happen again unless I unplug the power from the Zeus

If you act fast, you can grab an EVGA 750W for 40 bucks: You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login

I hope you acted slow. :(  That power supply has four 12 volt rails, with each rail only rated at 20A.  That is not a good solution for a DLA hub or Zeus which need to use single-rail power supplies.

The first thing I checked was to see how many rails.
