Lynx Freestyle / Re: Troubleshooting bad rectifier
« on: April 20, 2010, 08:36:30 pm »
I double checked the part orientations all looks right, the black strip is the negative side right?

When I was testing it was inside the case and there wasn't anything under it except the plastic screw terminals.

The leads on the parts are trimmed.

If the rectifier was electrostatic sensitive I could have fried it when putting it in, I suppose.

got some pics of the front side too

Lynx Freestyle / Troubleshooting bad rectifier

Hi,

I have finished building my freestyle and the rectifier got really hot and bulged out and now I don't have power anywhere on the circuit.  what could be a possible cause?

I checked for solder bridges and couldn't find any.

Do I need to have all the chips in for the voltages to be right?

I included a pic of the back of the board.
I'll get some of the top later.

Thanks

I was going to go ahead and buy the parts for my dongle, but several parts are backorded so I looked at newark for some replacements and I don't know the differences between my results.

These are backordered

I've found a piece of software for mac/linux/windows that works with the enntec DMX pro.
It looks like an actual lightboard (with sliders up/down, master, fade slider).  The limitation is that it is only 24 channels but that could probably be changed.

Thanks,

Hi,
I am looking for some ssr4 pcbs, kits, or some that someone could part with.

I will be using them with a freestyle and will need about 5-10 pcbs/kits.

Thanks,
Charlie

I am aware that you need the ssr4's to actually control the lights and have been doing some research on past coop prices and such.  someone is selling some ssr4's that I will buy from. I would be interested in buying your freestyle if you don't need it.  Is it already built or just pcb?

Thanks

I am looking for a freestyle pcb, kit, or possibly one that someone could part with.

I am thinking about doing a 4th of July show with animated fireworks and some other things and would like to get parts to start building/sequencing/playing around with.

I am on a budget of about $70 - $85 plus shipping and paypal fees.

Thanks

I will take 5 if you have them still they will be non DMX, used with a freestyle when I get one.  Is there a difference between v1 and v2 for use with the freestyle?

Thanks

Anyone want to start brainstorming on this idea?
Where can you learn about the DMX language?

As I said before I am willing to help out with this on my legacy(g4) powerbook, beta testing, writing code, designing graphics, whatever needs done.

OK thanks for the answer

The lightboard that I found used wasn't DMX so it wouldn't have worked anyways but it was used for fairly cheap so I thought I'd ask.

Hi All,

I would like to get started with the testing and playing around. I have some idea of what I want but would like to hear some other stories successes, errors, recommendation.

What I was thinking about was getting a freestyle and 5 or 6 ssr4's to start out and order more when I want more channels.

Also if you made a conversion cable could you set this up with a light board like is used in an auditorium?

Just to be clear though you don't need the DMX on SSR4 to dim the lights, do you?

Thanks,
Charlie
