Vixen / Re: New Sequences using Vixen 3
« on: October 24, 2016, 04:36:57 pm »
My first year with Vixen 3.
2009 was the last year I did the show. That was with Aurora sequencing software.

2016 is my first year with pixels and the first year I'm finally going to use the Lynx equipment I built 5 years ago. :)

Here are some of my visualizer screen capture videos

I did something very similar but used some 3 channel DMX controllers form China driving some RGB LED modules from bigclive.

Vixen / Re: D-Light plugin?
« on: August 16, 2010, 05:33:07 pm »
I agree. I've put the question out on the D-Light forums to see if there are any plans on supporting DMX - I get referred to the same posting at planet christmas..   Very disappointing.

Alas I guess the only way to really support the D-light controllers, the LEs, and the 3 channel dmx controllers will be to bite the bullet and purchase LSP. There appears to be little to no hope that Aurora will support DMX in the near future along with the D-Light and LOR support it currently has.  The beta version of Aurora that supported DMX (as seen in some folks displays for 2009) appears to be unaccessable to anyone that wasn't or isn't part of the chosen few.

Was hoping that D-Light might do much the same as LOR and support DMX. Figured that with the Open ACx16 by now there's be some level of firmware support.

I used the 2.1 version the other day(just for testing), and it worked without any problems. I had it running a D-Light ACx8 with 2.0 firmware.

Jesse

I just tried both version 2.1 and 2.5.0.8 with the reidfoLOR1_v21. With a DCx16 V2.0 firmware connected. Yes it sort of works..  Ramps don't work -  result in full intensity flickers..  There doesn't appear to be any intensity control. The plugin also appears to be  incomplete in that the options to configure controller id and channel(s) isn't there in a functioning manner. It appears the plug-in has a ways to go before it's really usable to provide LOR and D-Light controllers anything close to what's available to DMX.

Vixen / D-Light plugin?
« on: August 02, 2010, 04:59:26 pm »
Is there a plugin for D-Light more current than reidfoLOR1.dll? I've tried this one and the d-Light controllers perform so badly as compared to the LE's and the little Chinese 3 channel DMX ontrollers.

Both places I got them from would pre-address them at no extra cost.  I too like the flexibility the editor gives me. It would be nice if the eBay seller would include the need of the editor in the description. Snowball was much better priced for the exact same item. It only takes seconds to readdress them.

Just got four 6 inch globe lights completed using the open board version of these. Here's a quick test video of all 4 running on seperate DMX addresses. Using DMXcontrol and Winamp to drive them in this video.

I heard back from snowball-co and was given a Unit price: USD 41.05 for the Model: LN -DMXID-EDITOR, Unit price: USD 6.00  for the LN -DMXBAR-3CH-LV?L=5/6/12/24?and 25.00 for shipping.

I've built up one light so far as my prototype using one of these boards and a RGB LED MR-16 replacement board sold by bigclive.com that illuminates a 6 inch white acrylic globe. The result looks pretty nice. Had 4 of these in the display last year with a single green MR-16 LED inside controlled from a D-Light DCx16. The RGB version uses 3 each color superflux LEDs and is a lot brighter than the single MR16 plus gives me the RGB ability. I've done some quick testing with Vixen and am very pleased with the results so far.

I did a quick video on the prototype using the Lynx Dongle and driving the dmx with WinAMP and DMX Control:

I saw these dmx/RGB strips since few months now en Ebay too...

Can you tell us the ref of the chip used ?

This can helps to have a better idea of the kind of protocol used...

Cheers, Henri

If I'm reading it right the chip being used is a SyncMOS SM894051C253P.
They fail to mention the need of their address editor in their ebay listing as well and are not responding to my request to get these pre-addressed. Since they work good from the Lynx dongle my thought leads toward being able to readdress them if I had the proper data stream to somehow shoot at them.

Just a note to anyone else that might be looking at these little 3 channel (RGB) DMX controllers:

I got 4 of them and although they work really good with the Lynx Dongle and Vixen what isn't listed in the ebay description is that they are set to DMX address #1. They are soft strapped in some way via the DMX input and according to the vendor their address editor is needed and cost $124 shipping included.  (alot for a $9 board that I'll probably only ever change addresses on 1 time).. If you want the address set to something else supposedly they will set it if you specify.

I haven't found anything yet that might allow me to change the address via the PC.

Lynx Express / Re: Problem with V5 PIC
« on: March 08, 2010, 12:20:40 pm »
Just as FYI - I too have same problem with 1 of 4 LE's.. LED 6 lights up and there is no welcome message, 3 and 5 volts looks good. Took PIC from 4th (yet to build) and it works fine.  Will try reprograming the failing PIC.
Update: Yup, re-flashing tghe PIC fixed it

I just can't figure out why so much the Aurora DMX dongle is so big of a secret. I've been trying to find out who's dongle will be supported but this information seems to be locked tight within Area 51.

Alas there seems to be no choice but to get the Lynx dongle if for no other reason than to test then again spend more $$'s for the Aurora dongle once it finaly becomes available to more than the chosen few.

Lynx Aether / Re: Project updates
« on: February 05, 2010, 09:06:44 am »
I built some of the bigclive floods and run them off a D-Light DCx16. If this is something that would allow them to connect directly into a DMX universe that would be great.

Is this basicly a 3 channel DMX controller?  Have another project in mind and am looking for a small, low cost 3 channel DMX driver for rgb leds.
