Arrrgg! gmail. It seems to be the choice of spammers everywhere. Sorry, but I had to block gmail, hotmail, and a dozen other domains that spammers tend to like using.

I'm more than happy to provide anyone with a @dazlyn.com email account. I have unlimited accounts, and I only use two. ;)

I've added a couple of the previous versions of Olive Studio to the You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login. These include the previously released 0.1.2 (for Windows) and the never released 0.2.1 (for Mac and Windows).

The 0.2.1 release is particularly interesting because it introduced traditional sequence style track editing, audio and audio visualization, and a better Drag'n'Drop display designer. This version was not completed, but is fun to play with. Outputs are supported on both Windows and Mac, 32- and 64-bit system. Note that the audio feature does not work on Mac (I have already solved this problem in the current version).

Thanks.

First of all, Congratulations! This is quite an accomplishment. Secondly, the trailer looks great, but I didn't hear any dialog. Just music.

If it shows up in San Diego, I'll see it. Or rent it if not since it looks like the type of story my wife and I enjoy.

Olive Studio / Return to work on Olive Studio
« on: April 14, 2013, 04:01:58 pm »
Hi all,

I've been busy and away for some time now. I had to lower the priority that Olive had and have been wanting to get back to it for some time. It is a lot more fun than my boring 'ol day job of developing software for medical devices. I'm so sick of government regulations (especially the European ones).

I've reconstituted some previous versions of Olive for demonstration purposes while I'm putting together a new platform. Given the immense popularity of Apple systems, multi-platform support is promised with each release. So please test out the Max OS X versions and let me know.

My plan is to follow the agile approach, prioritize user stories, and release every two weeks. I ask that you bug and harass me if I start slipping. My feelings will not be hurt. I'm more interested in making Olive a community effort than anything.

If you are a software developer or want to be a software developer, Olive would be very fortunate for you to join. Contact me if you're interested.

The Porch / Re: order from ray
« on: April 11, 2013, 01:29:10 pm »
I have made many orders with Ray in the hundreds and thousands of dollars ranged. He is very trustworthy. And when I had problems with an item or it was the wrong item, Ray sends you replacements straight away. If the problem item isn't high dollar, you don't need to ship back.

Olive Studio / Re: Any updates on this Olive software?

Howdy,

I've been working frantically on preparing Olive for a new release. I keep adding more and more features and I can't stop!

Honestly, I am really working hard on getting this release out, which is very different from previous releases. The new features are posted in the article link above and actually, there are a few surprises that haven't been mentioned.

Thanks,

Lynx Smart String / Re: Purchasing Smart Strings from Ray
« on: September 12, 2011, 07:47:15 pm »
I can't speak to the production speed of the smart string nodes but I can speak to the trust worthiness of Ray Wu. I've trusted him with $1,000's in orders, he's replaced defective products, and he is always as expedient as possible. I'm very sure that many others on this forum will say the same thing, though I speak only for myself.

I've been using this Pickit 3 and ZIF for the past year.

It works perfectly with MPLAB IDE. Also, I've ordered many items from SureElectronics.net and have never had any problems and have received my orders very quickly.

After I had wrist surgery, I developed a photo management application and sold it to ???. Can't say. Anyway, that's what I did with one hand.... Sorry. I couldn't resist.

I agree with jeffcoast. Get some ceiling light diffusers (~$4 for 24"x36") from the hardware store and cut to fit. Be careful as the diffusers are brittle. I suggest using a high speed cutting tool like a RotoZip or Dremel.

I think the diffusers used with any moderately powered light node will produce an amazing and intriguing result.

The Porch / Re: Application Development for DMX
« on: August 08, 2011, 12:18:31 am »
All,

I've put together two Java classes that encode data for the Enttec DMX Pro (Lynx Dongle) and PixelNet (Lynx Dongle) devices. I haven't had time to complete my discussions on using the Java Comm APIs to setup and communicate with serial communication ports. If you need help with Java Comm, let me know and I will add more to the discussion.

You can find the ZIP file with the classes at You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login

Thanks,
