Lynx Aeon / firmware tweak request
« on: March 28, 2015, 08:17:26 pm »
Would it be possible to light more than one of the "hour" LEDs?

For example, it was 6:59 on my Aeon, but from my viewing angle and room lighting, I could not tell if it had just changed to 6:00 or that it was 6:59 and about to become 7:00

A display of 6:57 or 6:58 would probably be off by enough to tell, but not when it was just one minute.

What would have helped was if the LED for 7 was at least partially illuminated to show it was "almost" 7:00.

Like at 6:55, the "7" is at 5% brightness
then at 6:56, the "7" is at 10%
then at 6:57, the "7" is at 15%
then at 6:58, the "7" is at 25%
and at 6:59, the "7" is at 50%
At 7:00, back to a single hourly LED

Lynx Zeus / Re: ATX power supply keeps turning itself off or won't turn on

The ATX power supply I have on my roof Active Hub will NOT come back on unless I wait 30 seconds.
This is the 3rd year I've said I was going to replace it. Still hasn't happened.  :-[

Me too. Win8 64 didn't trust it.

Just order them with connectors. Tell Ray the length and which connectors. It adds very little to delivery time or price. Saves you the time.

You would need a custom Test Pattern firmware.

Anyone have a kit (ideally) or a PCB they are willing to part with?

Thanks,
Bob

Bob, I understand why you would want this. It is worth 5x what it costs to buy/build. Saved me a LOT of troubleshooting time out in the yard. Just wish the battery connector clips were attached better. They tend to come loose when you change out the AA cells.

If you get a chance, try going back up to 3.3.2.  It should work now.

Which version of xLights?  3.3.2?  I know of one person who had that exact problem with 3.3.2. He installed 3.3.1 and it worked.

but with the Uni-bit, I have to drill once and flip, hoping to match.

With a Drill Press, properly set up centerline, I drill two perfectly aligned 1/2" holes.
Sharp bit, slow feed rate - perfect holes for 12mm pixels.

This is really best done with two people. A friend and I drilled 6 tubes for 40 pixels per tube (480 total holes) in just over 2 hours. That included setup, cleanup and getting all the cuttings out of the tubes.

So i would need about 75 foot of cat5 (run properly) to get to the express or whatever is first.

If you go to a Lynx Express first, it has a DMX "booster" output. You have an Input, then an Output, then a Boosted (regenerated) output closest to the edge of the circuit board.
