xlights / Re: Static Elements
« on: December 09, 2014, 04:11:30 pm »
Meant entire sequence. That is my problem then...I have an effect in each timing mark. So just blank those cells out and they will hold the previous effect no matter if it's none:none or color wash. Makes sense now. Thank you.

I think that is how I'm doing it but the lights shut off anyways even if I set them to be in the entire show. I'll have to look at my settings again and post to see what I'm missing.  Thanks for the responses.

xlights / Static Elements
« on: December 08, 2014, 11:04:59 pm »
is there anyway to keep a static light display on through a few timing marks before allowing them to cycle to another in xlights?

for example, rgb show going, i want my deer to stay on for a certain amount of time, then shut off for a few seconds while my nets light up, and so on.  easy in vixen but can i combine that in an rgb show?  hope that makes sense.

I have the same problem between strings and flex. Tried the Utility changes but they didn't help. Not sure if the utility has been updated since last year.

Dang it, I thought I was the only one with Lindsey Sterling in my show. Display looks great. Can't wait to see it for real.

The Porch / Re: LED TV or plasma?
« on: December 29, 2013, 10:09:15 pm »
Plasma is far superior to LED, even with the advancements LED has made. I have a 55" plasma and it is absolutely fantastic. Burn in problems were more of an issue with older gens. They aren't as susceptible anymore although they aren't immune either. You want high quality for a home theater, plasma has my vote. Not sure about how a pc resolves on these tv's but I imagine either will work very well.

Of course these are my personal opinions after much research and personal experience. You really can go wrong these days with a 1080p device in either format. Audiophiles are the ones that will argue the most over that.  Cnet has some great reviews of current tv's and can be a great resource for information.

Lynx Smart String / Strings Directional?
« on: December 20, 2013, 07:39:40 pm »
are the regular smart string nodes directional?  I couldnt get them to light while programming an SSC so i hooked up the other end and they worked.  something similar happened on another set i had as well.  this was a string of 128.

I have a partial show up but had planned to be further along. First year RGB mixed in and it's been challenging. With all the delays due to family commitments I'm happy to be able to have lights up. Definitely learned a ton and have big plans for next year. I will also start much earlier to set up.

Nutcracker: RGB Effects Builder / Re: Adding a DMX channel

I used xlight/nutcracker to sequence all of my song and model both RGB and DMX lights for my shows.  For the DMX elements I created a model with the start channel for whichever DMX channel on the Lynx Express that I have, in the model I used type of string as any of the Single Color (Red,Blue,Green or White) I used each to differentiate elements in the preview tab, then at the timing marks I would use a ColorWash effect to turn the element on (White) or off (Black).

Here is a xml file for what I used to just turn on my static DMX items in between shows, just remove the .doc extension from the file to import into xlights.  This only show them turning them on, for me changing the color on the color wash to black turns them off.   I also create preset effects for On/Off in the Effect Preset so I can recall these when needed.

Hope this helps.
Steve

This helps a lot Steve.  This is what I was kind of asking about in another thread.  Thank you for this.

Lynx Smart String / SS Shrub Net Solutions?
« on: December 09, 2013, 01:56:11 pm »
I have several shrubs that I use incan nets on and was planning on upgrading them to LED next year.  However, the more I play with the RGB stuff, the more i realize how much easier it is to sequence them.  I'm sure there are some smart string nets (or maybe even dumb ones) out there and I was interested in some ideas aside from just laying nodes in the bushes.  Does anyone use smart or dumb strings on the bushes?
