Vixen+ / Re: Vixen+

Thanks, John for the quick fix.

I realized that I have to copy first my old profile  to the V+ profile folder. Also copy the mp3s to the V+ audio folder and V2.1 sequences to V+ sequence folder. After doing this I could open my old Vixen 2.1 sequences with all the trimmings channels and audio already loaded up and can preview and modify my sequences.

Everything is going smooth and will report of any bug that i encounter.

Thanks, Fernando

Sorry I was wrong in describing what happened when I opened the vix file. Actually it opened but there was no channels shown. When i tried to play the audio it crashes.

I've attached the files you're asking and hope this will help you in analyzing the problem.

Thanks, Fernando

Hi. Installed your new Vixen+ and tried it. I like the UI, just like the UI of Vixen 2.1.

I'd like to ask if you can open vix 2.1 files and edit it in Vixen+. I have  tried it but to no avail.Vixen+ always crashes.

Thanks for considering if this will be possible.

Thanks Sean for your Nutcracker program. Thanks too, to Matt for his Xlights.

Sean, having problem exporting animated sequence to HLS. I'm not getting the same effect as seen in the preview window of NC 3.0 when exported to HLS and viewed in the HLS preview window. NC2.0 is producing the desired effects converted to HLSNC files as seen in the preview window of HLS.

Thanks, Fernando

Thanks garyh for your reply.

Using Vixen as my sequencer, so I have to convert the sequences to xseq files since version d doesn't use vix files for the scheduler. In version b, I don't convert to xseq files. I use the xlights for conversion. In my first post I stated that everything is going smooth in the 1st and 2nd show and on the third show this problem showed up. I'm doing 5 shows per night with 5 minutes interval.

I'll try again ver. d after the season before I put down the lights and see what will happen. For the meantime will use ver. b.

And thanks to Matt for the time in doing xlights.

It's good to learn that some people are happy with 2012d version. I've tried it and and was satisfied in the first show and second show, then on the third I've noticed that some lights are not lighting on some part of the sequence but the timing is still on the dot as per sequence. Went back to 2012b until i know where the problem is. Does it have to do with the conversion? I am not sure if it is the same music when i noticed the non-lighting of some strings.

Thanks a lot.

Yes, you can say that but the biggest problem for me is my sequences before was done for a different set-up of lights. So when I tried it, was awful. Because there not much time to start from the beginning, I just use the Vixen Analog Frequency Spectrum. Maybe next year it will be better. Wife said it looks good so I'm not worried anymore. The AFS is really helpful in sequencing.

Forgot to mention in my 1st post that I'm using the LEs in 230Volts mode. No snubber resistors since I'm using incans. I could say that the transitions or fade-out look stunning.

Thanks to RJ, JJ and all the people responsible in making this happen.

Have a Happy Holidays to all.

It was Dec 2010 that I started thinking of this Blinky Flashy thing. By Jan 2011, joined Lynx Dongle pcb and cases coop. Got them through the help of my sister there in the States. I am from the Philippines, so to save some money I have the stuff delivered stateside. By October 2011, joined LE v5 coop and ordered 3 and got them also with the help of sister. Last thing I did is to ordered parts for DMX dongle and Pickit 3 from Mouser. So everything now is with her. They had some problem so the stuff was not shipped before Dec 2011.

Told her just keep it and when my other sister goes home for vacation just send it through her. By October 2012, sister came with only Dongle pcbs and cases. The other stuff was taken to the attic for very safe keeping by brother-in-law. To make the story short, got them on 23 Nov 2012. It took me 2 days to assemble the dongle and LEs. Because of Pic for Dongle is not programmed, I have to use the Wiki Red neck way. Sorry RJ I have to use my other Dongle pcb as kind of breadboard.

Now show is running with 48 channels using incans light string. By the way, got a dead triac so it is only 47 channels.

So to all who run the coops, Thanks a lot.

Merry Christmas to all and Happy New Year.

Tried HLS and it's very nice. One thing that I stopped thinkering with it is ,it might not support DMX because it only supports Renard protocol at the moment. I'll just wait till it supports DMX protocol. BTW tried the vir file for Vixen, it only works for me in Vixen 2.5 and not in Viven 2.1.

Thanks a lot for your effort in providing an easy way in sequencing RGB Pixels.

How about TripleS (Smart String Sequencer)

Steve

Why not add another S to make it "4S" for SeanSmartStringSequencer

[quoteFirst let me say I am a newbie so you can take this with a grain of salt   I may not have the most valid opinions since I just happened to get in on this last coop as my first

In my opinion, this plan is neither more or less fair than the current system. And I can promise you, those that don't get their name pulled out of the hat will say it is unfair!! You also run the risk of some letter of the alphabet never getting pulled, or at least some letters pulled more than others.
There are guidelines in place that are probably about as fair as you are going to get it. First come, first serve is something we have to live with. Personally, I read all I could before I ever tried to get in on a coop. I knew what the rules were going in and "subscribed" to the coop forum to be notified of new posts. I was fortunate to catch it in time this go around after missing out the first time. And actually, I think the mere fact that the coops are closing within a couple of hours is good indication that their is HUGE demand. There may not be exact numbers but a coop that takes days to fill will give indication that demand is waning.

I personally don't have issue with the way the coops are run and certainly appreciate the countless hours and efforts that are extended by RJ and the managers voluntarily only to benefit myself and others like me ][/quote]

It would really be "seizure inducing" if you will know the amount they spent on those things, not for DIYer like me. Controllers only will cost around $25T,and its a lot of $$$.

Lynx Smart String / Re: hub fuses

Also have seen the Sandevices RGB controller, I think the first reason for using the little fuse in the hub is to save space. When you deal with DC voltages, you really have to be careful about the polarity of the connectors and wires. You have to double check your connections before applying any voltages.
