That storm and strong winds are heading into our neck of the woods in the northeast today and tomorrow.  Hopefully everyone makes it through with minimal disruption.  I suspect there will be goods crowds this weekend (subject to weather conditions).

is it always the red?

In my case the nodes lose the red, blue, or both channels.  I don't have any that are missing green.

I bought 12 of the 100 pixel dumb strings from Ray.  I have about 4 to 5 failures on every string.  It is always either the red or blue (or both) LED that is out, never the green. I am using DSC's with ATX computer power supply to control them.  The strings are spread over 3 different hubs/power supplies. Due to time constraints I didn't do much testing of the strings prior to setting them up outside so I can't say if this if these failures were there initially or have occurred since running them.  I don't think I'm seeing increasing failures since my show has been running, but I haven't done specific counts.  My sense is they are just bad or marginal nodes -- perhaps a bad run from Ray.  I'll be contacting Ray to get replacements nodes and will have a do a bunch of splicing at the end of the season.

The Porch / Re: Voice overs

The latest version of Light Show Pro has a bunch of canned voice overs available, including some related to neighbors, traffic, etc. Of course, this is only useful if you're an LSP owner.

Kurt,

You nabbed the large final cell issue.  All cells in the pattern are now the same size.  I tested the total duration issue and every effect is coming up 2 cells short (i.e. 100 msec short when I use 50 msec timing). Not a huge issue as I can probably generate the effects 100 msec longer than I actually need, as a workaround.

Thanks for all your work on this.

Okay,

I think I found the issue and corrected it.  Once sean uploads make_lsp-exec.php to meighan.net, it should correct the extra 100000 entry (the larger than normal cell).  Please let me know if it is still 50ms off.  This might be a logic error in how we are determining the frames and is pretty easy to correct if it is incorrect.

Kurt,

Yes, I'm using effects exclusively.  Haven't ventured into projects at all.

I think I am running out of bugs to fix....
Kurt

Kurt,

Were you able to take a look at the "interval" issue I PM'ed you about?  The one that causes the final effect cells in a LSP UserPatterns file to be abnormally long?

-Mike

Mike,

I know what is causing the issue, but I think this issue is appearing in effects, correct?  (I don't think you are using projects, because I have not been able to re-create this issue in projects.)  You are doing this generation under the 'effects' menu item, correct?

I know that there is a parameter set called MaxInterval that is set to 100000 that is probably causing the issue.  Projects does not use this variable (I ripped the code to generate LSP from effects, but modified it to be used by projects).  I will have to look at the effects generation tonight and see if I can't find (and fix) the culprit there.

Does LSP get progressively slower doing the pastes?  I've found it almost unusable trying to paste Nutcracker patterns after my LSP sequence gets more than a few patterns in it. It can take upwards of ten minutes to finish the paste.

mokeefe,

do you need one too?  I can send ya one.

Kurt

Thanks Kurt, but I'm all set.  I picked one up in a subsequent Mouser order.  BTW, that ETD was not from your coop.

You can actually run the ETD fine without even installing that resistor.  It is only used to provide power to the green LED.  Obviously it's better to have a functioning LED, but the ETD will still run fine without the LED lit up.

I know this from experience as I was missing the same resistor from an earlier coop.

rdebolt is correct.  The info on that page is wrong for the flex strips.  This page has the correct info I believe:

If you have.something laying around in that range, go ahead and use it. If you're going to place an order, get 330.

Chris,

Just curious on what criteria you are basing your recommendation of 330 ohms over 220?

Nothing worked and gary (pk) helped me by showing that i had connected the jumper wire to pin 15 instead of pin 14 on the pic. i made that change and everything worked.

Sean,

I hope that's a typo as the jumper wire in the mod should go to pin 15 in the PIC.
