I'm working up a set of 1/2" PVC rods, each one having 2 meters (60 pixels) of Flex Strips zip tied down the front.
Ultimate goal will be to make 80 of them. For now, I'm using 16 and set up as a small Mega-tree.

Are you using PVC pipe or something else?

Is anyone else having issues with Ray returning emails? I have been super busy and have been trying to order some flex strips and Extra connectors as well as other miscellaneous stuff from Ray and have sent 4 emails. I have also tried to contact him through his stores contact form and have not received a reply. I am starting to get frustrated and would love to use another seller if I could just guarantee that the flex strips would be the same.

Grant

I placed a small order with Ray 10 days ago and just received it Friday.  He did not respond to my request for a status update a few days ago.

Panther DMX Player / Re: one last post before I push for a coop

My player has been running for over a week now.  I used xlights/nutcracker to create a sequence, opened it in vixen, changed the time to 100ms and ran it through the converter.  Works great for a small standalone rgb project!

I used GECE's with an e681 for my roof outline. I hot glued magnets to the back of them and put them on the flashing on the fascia. Individual control.

A case similar to the dongle would make a nice package.  Looking forward to it.

Jdm, did he mean per order or just to get him started. Because I would buy around 1800.

I think he meant to get started with the new pcb.  It may be worth contacting him again if there is enough interest in using the 1804 chip in this form factor.

I contacted Ray about this back in May and this was his reply:

"if the order can be more than 5000pcs, then i can make a new pcb for it,and need about 3 weeks.
thanks and best regards
Ray"

An SD card based DMX player would be a useful item, especially for year-round items.

I like George's too.  I too am trying to find a good balance between value and resolution.  Truth be told, I am thinking of going to a 2811 based 60/m with a 682 controller to keep the sign a bit smaller since I am like 30' to the street, but I am clueless and not really wanting to go astray from RJ's gear.

I'm using the E681 without any issues with about 400 GE Coloreffects lights I have on my roof line and yard outline.  I was concerned a bit at first, but it has proven to be a solid piece of hardware.  For a matrix where all of the strips/nodes will be right next to each other, it may actually be easier to use a 681 or 682 because they plug right into the board.  I do like RJ's SS gear better for flexibility it offers for element spread out in the yard.
