That is my problem. I have two boards to finish. Maybe the next LE Coop will offer parts less the board.  I'm almost afraid to wait if I can find IC now.  I know they are available in lots, but I don't need 500 or 1000.  The stock is getting short since they are discontinued.

Maybe someone has a couple they could sell me.

 :(

There was a Lynx Express coop last February.
We will have one early next year if there is enough interest.

John

I am interested, looking at 15 maybe 16 boards, going to dump all my Lor controllers and go with the Lynx Express

why dump you LOR controllers?  They work just fine side by side with the express I have many of the LOR and express and SSR-4DMX all together!  depending on the firmware on the LOR's they may need to upgraded to accept DMX

my 2cents!

Lynx SSR4 / Re: SSR4 Alternative for Higher Amps
« on: January 05, 2014, 11:15:09 am »
I have built some 4 channel high power output boxes controlled by a freestyle.  I used 2 dual 20amp non zero cross power cubes in each box.  built them using 2 deep standard 4" sq electrical boxes back to back. The front of one has a standard double duplex cover plate with 2 duplex split wired for 4 circuits.  on 2 sides of the other box I mounted the dual power cubes.  on the end of this box I mounted a rj45 connector the other end has a cable clamp with the 14-3 power cord.  then I used a standard 4" sq cover to cover that box.  The box becomes the heatsink I place the whole thing a small plastic Rubbermaid with cover with a small slot for the wires to exit.  all of the parts were purchased as Lowes except for the power cubes that I got on-line surplus somewhere!!!

That is what I was looking for.....Perhaps a sentence in the manual when it talks about "constant current mode" that references the inverted firmware.  You guys rock!  Thanks for the help

A good friend of mine retired as the marketing manger from the original Heathkit.  If has told stories about test building kits and stuff.  I still have several pieces of Heathkit test equipment around here that I use all of the time.

Cool,  I built some proto type archs using flex strips inside of 3/4" PEX tubing.  I am planning on making 16ft arches with PEX this year.   1 strip per arch works good but 2 look really good!!

The Porch / Re: RJ's Happy New Year!
« on: January 06, 2013, 09:33:36 pm »
Thanks RJ for all you do to help build some pretty impressive blinky shows.  Well unfortunatly, "Lights on Bell Road" are turned off for another 11 months!  Today my father-in-law, my wife Pam and kids Abby and Emily all helped for a few hours this afternoon to take it down.  I would say we have about half of the lights and parts down and not quite put away.  I am already planning on new things for this coming Christmas!   Everybody enjoyed the show this year.  Next year I am planning a amazing new show.  I better get to work 11 months to go and counting!!!  I guess I shouild get the video's edited and posted!  I also built this year some really cool permanent "yard" lights for the end of my driveway.  10ft of 14" aluminum lighting truss mounting vertical with a 24" white globe on top with several RGB triple LED dumb strips and a 40 watt compact flourescent lamp.  Under the globe is a Ether to "down light" the truss.  I will post pictures soon.

Lynx Smart String / Re: Permanent Exterior RJ45 Jacks

I will take a picture or two.  Lowes has a standard "decora" plates that hold multiple Cat5 jacks.  These plates will then fit standard electrical boxes either flush or surface and the standard keep dry covers.

yes!

I have several Cat5 runs to various places in my yard.  they all go back to a cat5 data patch panel
this year I am using them all for DMX, Ethernet, Serial for sign, Serial for projector control.

I have mine in standard outdoor boxes with a plastic keep dry cover

Lynx Express / Re: Terminate in two spots???
« on: December 09, 2012, 08:54:52 pm »
rule 1 always terminate the end of the line.

if it works without termination as stated before you got luckly.  Your luck may change with humidity.......

it all may work till you swap a 25ft cat5 for a 50ft some where in the and now in majically doesnt work.

back to line one.

Always terminate the end of the line.  Think of it as a cap to not allow the bits to run out the end of the device!
