I have been thinking about a small, lighting project and was wondering if I might somehow use a few of the SS system components, like just a SSC and an RGB string (adding power, of course). There would be no Etherdongle and no Hub. Just a modified version of the test firmware. I'm hoping to do this easily and on the cheap.
Say I have a 90-node RGB string, with 30-Red, 30-Green and 30-Blue in some order, which defines one "profile". I want maybe ten profiles, with each of the other profiles also using 30-R, 30-G and 30-B, but in a different order.
Now, the modded SSC test firmware would sense an external (binary/BCD) input (i.e. DIP switch closures) to determine which profile and another external input (i.e. single switch closure) to trigger the lights in the selected profile on or off.
Does any of this make sense and are there other/better ways to do this?
