Lynx Smart String / After programming some nodes work
« on: December 07, 2014, 03:53:22 pm »
I have 5 other modded v2 SSC working on the exact configuration. I double checked the solder, chips, chip positions, resistors and everything looks good.

I have 2 strings with issues. After programming with the SSC Utility on the first string, the first 3 nodes work. The first two nodes are white, and the last one has one color sometimes multiple and it varies on each flash. The rest of the string works fine. When I test it....no blinky flashy even though other strings I plug into the same Cat 5 cable work.

I have another string where the first 6 nodes work after programming and not the rest of the string. No blinky flashy if I connect it. The first 5 nodes are all white and the last node has mostly one color but it varies.

Before I do anything, I feel like the problem is at the connection between each 3 node set. It would seem all I need to do is remove the bad portions. But before I go cutting and removing, does this seem correct?

I think this is what I need and I would want 2 of these.

I will be making a display that cannot have wires connected to it and I need it to sync with the show. If I understand this product, this is what I need. Let me know, and we can chat and I'll buy them.

The Porch / Re: Anyone still scrambling?

I'm so far behind that I basically didn't get anything done. I've decided to have a 4th of July show this year. Not because I want to do all the extra work, but it will force me to get my stuff done earlier.

Lynx Smart String / SSC works then just goes white
« on: December 15, 2013, 06:18:42 pm »
I'm testing my SSC. I have 3 other SSC on same hub and everything works fine. I've programmed all the SSC with the same address as I'm so far behind that I'm just throwing stuff up.

I start using the xTester using A B C All. After it hits all, 3 of the strings keep doing what they are suppose to. One just stays all white. I flashed it, reprogrammed it and it still does the same thing. Any thoughts?

I didn't have from the correct end of the string. For future people behind me, make sure you find the end with the arrows pointing into the string and that is the side you solder. That should have never happened, but that info wasn't in the instructions.

Lynx Smart String / No SSC blinky flashy but others blinky flashy
« on: December 08, 2013, 08:48:42 pm »
Here's my setup for testing:

Computer----router----Etherdongle (EtD)----Smart String Active Hub (SSAH)----Lynx Express (LE)
                                                                                         |----Smart String Controller (SSC)

I have a modded V2 ssc controller. I'm using the Smart+String+Controller+modded.hex and the Lynx Smart String Utility (LSSU).

The LE works, so I suspect that means that everything up to the SSAH works. I've tried different SSAH and they allow the LE to continue to work. When I use the LSSU, the lights on the LE light up, but nothing on the SSC. I'm using flexible ribbon. So based on my reading, that means everything is transmitting and all is good, but the SSC lights won't light up.

I've restarted my computer, I've reflashed everything and I'm 100% certain that I'm using the right hex flash for the EtD, SSAH and SSC. I'm also certain I've modded the SSC correctly. I've checked all the above easily 10 times.

So what's the rub?

Can I put 12v to the string and get it to work to test the string?

Pex is a good idea, but you still have to get it straight. It's going to look horrible if it isn't straight and just a little sag will be noticeable.
