« on: September 20, 2014, 10:43:42 pm »
I got this from Ray when I asked for an update on delivery.  My order has been stuck in DHL for a week with no activity.

Dear Mr.Roy,
about 80shipments have been delaye because of the custom inspection in HK-shenzhen board.
not only me, all of goods from shenzhen have been delayed for 3 to 7days. that is really a very bad news.
my forwarder could not give me a exact release date.(about 300 Corrupt custom officials are arrested in shenzhen, they smuggle Counterfeit money and drugs....)

thanks and best regarsd

On the point of a book, I am in the midst of publishing a "getting started in the xxx hobby" one right now and it is a pain in the butt.

Am I the only one who caught the "getting started in Triple X is a pain in the butt" comment??? :o   Or do I just have a knack of reading things the wrong way. :)

They make the candles and the covers that slide over them.  They have and can make white also.  But that doesnt matter if there is not a simple enough way to get a signal to each candle.

Here are some pics.  They currently use 2 100 ct incans for candle a a set of incan "twinkle lights" for the flame.  Adding some RGB to the flame that could do chases down the street would be perfect for them.
Thanks

1 candle per house. 46 houses on block.  3 color rgb per candle flame.  cables would be across driveway, sidewalks.  Lots of foot traffic on weekend before Christmas.  They block off the streets to traffic.  Each house provides their own candle and runs power to it.  Cord is taped down to sidewalk or run thru a seam.  You can see all the people in the video so tripping hazard would be a concern.  They want to jazz it up for next year.

Hey Steve.
The idea is to use some RGB modules in the flame.  It is a hollow wireframe with sheer cloth material over it.  They are lit from the inside.  So i think he only needs 3 channels per candle.  but wire is not going to work.  Here is a clip of the event.  This street has the candy canes, his street has candles, but you can see what I mean why im sure it needs to be wireless.
Maybe some could be wired but not all.  They plan to rewire all the candles with LEDs this year.  It would be the time to add some color and pizazz.

Lynx Wireless DMX / How to sync the whole block???
« on: January 02, 2014, 10:18:08 pm »
My coworkers neighborhood does a "candy cane lane" theme each year.  Every house on his block puts up a 10' candle next to the road.  They are round wire frame with lights on the inside and flicker lights in the "flame".  Next year they want do something spectacular.  I talked to him about dmx and sequencing.   He wants to know if they can have all 46 candles, 23 on each side of the road, sequenced together.  Color changes and chases all the way down the block is what they are looking to accomplish.  A single 3 channel controller in each candle is all that would be needed.  Can pixelnet be wireless?
That said, how can the communications be done?  they can not run cat5 down the road.  how far will the Tx/Rx transmit?  and how can it be repeated?  They do not currently do any animated lights so no one has any LE's.

Lynx Wireless DMX / is there a 3 channel wireless controller?

I am looking for a way to add some wireless battery powered items to my yard.  Is there a way to combine the needed parts into one unit?  A Tx/Rx + DSC + LiIon into a single package.  Or is there one already?

I use Jeff at Illumimax.  He is north of Dallas.  He usually will bring them to the Academy which saves on shipping.

xlights / Re: Simple audio question
« on: December 25, 2013, 10:53:57 pm »
Is your original downloaded file a .vix file? Are you familiar with Vixen?   There are a couple of ways to attach a song to a sequence.  You can edit the .vix sequence in a text editor.  I use notepad.  But you need to be very familiar to do it this way.  And a working example is helpful.
But The easier way is to open the original sequence in Vixen, click the musical note button at top of page, (next to the time window).  Click "assign audio" button on popup window and select the correct MP3.  save the sequence.  Then convert this new sequence in xlights and put it in show folder.
Hope this helps.
