Sale/Trade / FS Lynx Express v4 in case w/wireless - SOLD
« on: January 05, 2015, 09:21:00 pm »
EDIT- SOLD

Hello.

I have a Lynx Express v4, with wireless, in the case for sale. It was purchased about a year ago from the following thread:

It has a roughly 3-foot 2-prong AC power cable, and 16 2-prong power cords for the channels (roughly 2-3 feet each). It also has wireless. I put it outside for a couple of weeks this season with the intent to use it, but it was never used.

I plugged it in and ran the self test, and all 16 channel lights do light up. I was also able to successfully switch the channel back to 001. It's sold as-is, but all indications are that it is fully functional. I also have the heatsink (from the original purchase), but it is not attached.

I'm asking $75 plus shipping and Paypal fees, which is what I paid for it.

Thanks.

Sale/Trade / WTB smart string/strip remnants
« on: December 20, 2013, 04:37:05 pm »
Hello.

I'm trying to decide whether to use smart strips or nodes for my house outline before committing to a large purchase from Ray.

As such, I'm hoping that someone has an extra smart strip and/or string laying around that they'd be willing to sell. It doesn't even need to be a full strip/strand, a few feet would do.

Thank you.

Lynx Smart String / Advice - active hub or Lynx DMX dongle for just DMX?
« on: November 20, 2013, 12:49:48 pm »
Hello.

I have an active hub that I'm planning to eventually use (obviously) for both smart strings and DMX. Some DMX stuff is ready to go, but the smart string stuff won't be ready until next year. In the meantime, I'd like to run just the DMX stuff. But, I'd like to get my software setup (Vixen, xLights) so that I can sequence the DMX stuff now and then add in the smart string stuff later on. I'm using the USB dongle, not an etherdongle, btw.

Can I flash my dongle to pixelnet and run the active hub for the DMX stuff without using the power supply for the hub? It seems like a waste of electricity for me to run the supply without powering any SSCs. Or, should I just leave the dongle flashed for DMX, run the DMX stuff directly through there, and worry about the hub when I'm ready to add smart strings? And will that method give me issues if I want to later add smart strings to the existing DMX-only sequences?

Thanks in advance.

Lynx USB DMX Dongle / Re: Reprogramming a Lynx DMX dongle for pixelnet?

That kit has been ordered through j1sys. All of the advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks again!

Sale/Trade / WTB a single SSC
« on: November 19, 2013, 09:21:45 pm »
Hello.

If anyone has an unused SSC laying around that they'd be willing to part with (V4 preferably, but V2 will do), I'm looking to purchase one. It's too late to start working on a Christmas show now, but I'd like to use the time start playing around with the active hub and learn Vixen while I anxiously await the next SSC coop (hopefully!), and maybe have a show ready for the Spring.

Thanks!

Lynx USB DMX Dongle / Re: Reprogramming a Lynx DMX dongle for pixelnet?

Thank you for the tips. The intention is to continue, so the pickit is probably a good investment. Would this kit work?

Lynx USB DMX Dongle / Reprogramming a Lynx DMX dongle for pixelnet?
« on: November 18, 2013, 11:24:02 pm »
Hello.

I have a Lynx dongle flashed for DMX usage. I'd like to use this with a pixelnet active hub, so I believe that it needs to be reprogrammed. Is that a service that is available to purchase?

Thanks in advance.

Lynx Smart String / Active hub power supply and enclosure question
« on: November 18, 2013, 11:20:33 pm »
Hello.

I recently picked up this power supply from a local Micro Center for $40. Is this a decent supply to start using with an active hub?

Also, would this enclosure work? Any tips on waterproofing/ventilation?

Hello.

My first question is on the length of a smart string. The wiki says that a SSC will run a string of 128 nodes (the regular ones linked from the wiki), and the approximate length is 33-35 feet. I'd like to install a run of nodes on a gutter across the front of my house, which is roughly 42 feet. It would be far easier to do this as a single string instead of splitting it up. Is it possible to request a string of 128 nodes with 4" spacing to yield a 42 foot run, and is that something that the SSC (and cat5) can handle?

My second question is regarding year-round installation. I'm in southern NY. I was considering putting the string into some type of transparent tubing (yet to be determined), and then wrapping the tubing with some type of UV film/tint. Would the combination of the nodes' inherent waterproof-ness + the tube itself + the UV film be sufficient to withstand year-round installation?

Thanks in advance.

Sale/Trade / FS: Express and MR16 kits from 2012 coops [SOLD]
« on: October 29, 2013, 09:25:37 pm »
Hello.

First, I apologize in advance if selling this equipment that was purchased during a co-op last year is frowned upon. I never had a chance to actually build this stuff, and life got in the way of my light animation interests for a while.  <fp.

Now that I have some time and am getting interested again, I'd like to go the Pixelnet route. So, I have some complete kits from 2012 co-ops. I've linked the co-op threads that they were purchased from, to help you determine the versions etc.

I'm only looking to get what I had paid for them, so the prices indicated are essentially the original co-op prices. Shipping/Paypal fees are extra.

I would certainly consider trading for Pixelnet hardware (assembled preferrably, but either is fine). I have no equipment yet, and am still reading the forums to determine what exactly I will need.

FOR SALE

2 Lynx Express complete kits with heatsink (no case) - $125 for both (still packed together from the co-op, so would prefer to keep them that way instead of separating everything) - SOLD
