Sale/Trade / For Sale
« on: June 19, 2016, 11:16:38 pm »
Folks I am getting out of the Light Animation hobby since I never started.  I purchased all this equipment, assembled a few, very few, with the intentions of lighting up my world.  Needless to say I have determined that between work, traveling for work, night classes, online classes, extra training required by work after hours and family, I don’t have time for animation right now.  So that said my DIY kits, all of them, are going up for sale.  All my items will be sold at the price listed PLUS shipping.  Shipping will be via USPS and I will be using the Flat-Rate, If It Fits, It Ships, Priority Mail.  That said, the more you buy the more you will save in shipping. Items will be sold on a first come first served basis and those items that are assembled are as-is since I never got a chance to test them.  Being that there are so many items it may take me up to a week to ship after full payment is received due to my daily routines but you will be notified when shipped.  I am an honest person and I am selling these items with the knowledge that the items are if good working condition if not in brand new full kit condition.  I hate to see them go but I think they will benefit someone else verses sitting in a box in my house!  Thanks….ms5435.

Lynx EtherDongle / Help in Dallas
« on: December 03, 2015, 07:07:46 pm »
I have been out of the loop for a good while and want to jump back in.  I bought and assembled some EDs a few years ago (3-4yrs) along with other items.  I have not been able to get any of them to work and was wondering if anyone in the DFW area would be willing to help me trouble shoot these items.  Not sure if it's a PIC programming issue, a bad hardware issue or just plain operator error.  I know everyone has busy lives but I would really appreciate any local hands on help I can get locally.  Please let me know,  Thanks to everyone!

Lynx Express / Re: No Blinking lights on Express Ver 5

is there a way to verify what has been written to the LE?  I know if I have a working LE, or any other device,  I can read from it then write to another unit.  What does the verify button do?

I looked under all the items up on the menu bar, did not see anything to update. Keep in mind I followed the WIKI link for the software.  I went on to the mfg. website and did not see an update firmeware link.  I have read of issues with PICkit 3 and Windows 7.

Both the "Remove for Wireless" and "Terminate" jumpers are in place.  Also wanted to mention using Windows 7 Ultimate, 32-bit and Microsoft.Net Framework 4.0.  When I programmed the LE I verified the checksum was 6538.  One thing I did forget to mention was that when I went to program the LE the PICkit software stated "New firmware must be downloaded for PICkit3 to work with the part selected.  Click 'OK' to continue."  I had downloaded the PICkit 3 Stand Alone Programmer App software from the link for the PICkit 3 from the Software WIKI page.  (My PICkit software info:  Application Ver 1.0.0.0, Device File Ver 00.00.00, JAM Ver 01.27.15-06, RS: 01.15.03, AP: 01.12.02-01)  I click OK, the PICkit status status light goes red and it seems to do what it needs to.  The PICkit software screen reads "Writing AP 01.12.02-01...done"  The green bar is ALMOST all the way to the end, but quite does not finish and by now the PICkit status light is back to green.

Lynx Express / No Blinking lights on Express Ver 5
« on: September 16, 2012, 05:34:06 pm »
Built the LynxExpress, 3 of them, built the EtherDongle.  Ran the on board test on the LE units all systems go.  Programmed LE with the PICkit 3 using device PIC24FJ32GA002 and HEX file LE_Firmware_09_2010.  Programmed the ED with PICkit 3 using device PIC32MX795F512L and HEX file EtherDongle_DMX.  Using Vixen 2.1.4 and where I added the plugin Lynx+EtherDongle.dll.  Created a random test sequence in Vixen for 32 channels.  Set the start address on the LE to 001.  When I run the seq. in Vixen I see the lights on the MagJack blink.  When I connect the ED to the LE the Data Link light on the LE turns on.  With the sequence running I run the onbaord LE test and 3 lights stay on at the end of the test:  ZC, DMX & Done.  I then reset and run the sequence again.  For some reason I am not getting the blinking LED lights on the LE to indicate the channel is getting turned on.  I could see if it did this on one LE, but all 3?  Open to suggestions.  Just incase...I am new to all this but have been reading, soldering, reading some more and now trying to but it all together.  Suggestions?

Ray's 128 node is currently $52 + $26.08 (shipping)=$78.08.  I would hope the shipping on these would be a little cheaper.

Sale/Trade / Re: WTB- some to solder my stuff... vonk vonk
« on: August 20, 2012, 04:12:08 pm »
I bought a "station" from e-bay, good deals are out there, just be patient.  It has both the iron and a rework station.  Both have digital temp. controls along with a speed control for the rework fan.  As others have pointed out, 63/37 and .31 rosin core, no-clean solder, a good magnifier with a light and a "3rd hand" to hold your boards while you solder and a soldering vent fan are all VERY good things to have.  They will all make your life easier...but they won't make you an expert...only jumping in and doing it...practice.  Find yourself an old PC board, practice removing the parts and then practice putting them back on.  Can't stress enough....PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE!

Sorry for the delay in responding...we moved this past week and now the house is upside down!  I have not tried any of the suggestions, but I will soon.  If I still don't have any luck I will repost.  thanks for the suggestions.
