Lynx Express / Re: seven segment leds inop
« on: November 17, 2014, 09:55:37 pm »
i know but i have multiple controllers so the quickest way to eliminate the chip is to swap them between controllers. and the connections look fine visually but if that dont work ill reflow the joints and if still nothing ill replace the socket. ill deal with it tomorrow. But thanks for yalls help. This one just had me baffled until realized everything else was working properly. Then i was relived but confused. So ill run with this info tomorrow and see what i come up with.

Lynx Express / seven segment leds inop
« on: November 17, 2014, 09:29:58 pm »
Just curious on how to resolve this issue. (i.e) where they get power from and where i need to probe and  result i should or should not see.

My board is working 100% except the led display isn't working. I can set start channel through config utility heck i can run the onboard self test by the buttons on the board and set the start channel that way just by counting how many times i've pushed each button. And it runs fine over dmx from vixen. But the led display never comes on. i'm not super worried about it it doesn't affect my show for this year but if anybody has any ideas i would still like to repair the issue.

This board is 3 years old and the past 2 seasons it hasn't given me any issues put it out last week and went to set the start channel and the seven segment led's never came on i thought my board was toast at first, changed the PIC and programed it and no change so i started using my meter comparing my results to another fully functioning board and i cant find any major differences ya there a few tenth of a volt different but doesn't seem like for example  x.14 vs x.23 would cause any issues and all of my resistors are within 1-2 ohms of what they are rated for heck on the screwy board they are closer to their rating than the perfect board. So could it be the led displays themselves? or what drives them? And why does the board still function properly everywhere else except there?

Thanks for any input yall might have.

Yea after putting a compressor before the input of my EDM-TX-LCD; the sound is really good and i have it at about the same volume as the local radio stations

cool, it will be at least next week before i get to order the parts to attempt to build mine but it would be nice to have verification that all of the substituted parts work or not before i order. Thanks for all of your help here and on my WTB post. And once i build mine i will also confirm that mine works using the substituted rs485 chip with 595-SN75176BP. But if SABIE still has a few of the old rs485's i might get a few from him just in case the substitution has any issues.

cool then ill order from them and just build a few of my boards.

So then all I'm looking for now is a MR16 DC Board. Just looking to get a spare so this one isn't a big deal. But if anybody has one just let me know and ill buy it from you.

Thanks for all yalls help

Thanks but I've already got 10 of the PCBs hoping to find them as full kits or built. The BOM list in the wiki has a few obsolete parts on it and the referenced similar parts look to be close but not exact matches. So I'm a little leery on buying them from mouser until the BOM is updated.

The Porch / EDM FM Transmitter question.

What is the difference between EDM-LCD-CS and EDM-TX-LCD. Is there a big difference? I've looked throughout there site and i can't find what "TX" is. Anybody have any input on which one is a better buy or performance differences between the two?

I'm looking for at least 2 Express's, at least 4 SSR4's with DMX, and at least 1 MR16's

Can be new, used, built or unbuilt. Let me know what you've got.

Thanks,
Tyler Nodine

Did these parts work for you? I've got several empty boards i need to build and the BOM was never updated. Just curious if they worked for you? Also there is now another obsolete part.
