The Porch / Re: CG1500 mounting question
« on: March 30, 2012, 10:39:36 pm »
I have a rather elaborate method of mounting mine outside, I like to think it is almost theft proof.  Serious overkill considering I live in a nice neighborhood in a nice small town and had never had any problems with thieves.  I guess it is because I have so much time and money invested in the Expresses I want to do everything I can to protect them.  If any one is interested, I will take photos and write out a detailed explanation.  Just post a request and I will get it done.

I would be interested in two of the wireless modules if you somehow end up with a couple to sell.

Sale/Trade / SOLD - USB Dongle parts and and SSR4 boards for sale
« on: January 28, 2012, 05:29:39 pm »
Been doing a little housekeeping and now have the following items for sale.

One "partial USB Dongle kit" which includes:
1 USB Dongle board (ver. 2)
1 Pic (will program if you like)
1 Dongle case with machined openings in the proper places.
That is all, no other parts are included.  You will need to order everything else to make a working dongle.
I will take $14.00 (plus shipping cost to you) for the above "partial kit".

Four USB Dongle boards (ver. 2)  These are boards only, no other parts or cases will be included.
I will take $2.75 each (plus shipping cost to you).

Two SSR4 boards (ver. 2)  These are boards only, no other parts or cases will be included.
I will take $5.50 for the pair (plus shipping cost to you).

Please PM me if you are interested in any of these items.  I will combine items to save shipping if you buy multiple items.

Perhaps you could appoint a certain number of board members as dealers that buy in quantity from you and then handle the individual orders for members in their area.  You would set the price for both the dealers orders from you and the resale prices (perhaps allow the dealers a $0.25 markup on small boards and $0.50 on large boards to cover cost of tape and such).  Since the prices would be posted on the board, you should not have any problems with dealers overcharging.  If one does, you remove them from the board and cutoff their customer base.  This method would allow you to only have to handle orders from a few dealers and the members would still be able to get boards.  Just a thought.

I would consider it an honor to be a dealer for my area and even if you don't want to make this official, I would still consider buying extra boards and making them available to others at cost plus shipping if you would allow me to do so.

My 2 cents,
Jay

The Porch / Re: Soldering before making a mess

Start with cheap kits and a good solder station/iron, you will get the hang pretty soon.  I have the Radio Shack digital station and I have been very happy with it.  Not your best bang for the buck, but a good unit at a fair price.  I would not (this may be just me) use a simple $10 soldering iron.  I use different heat setting for different components and you need an adjustable station for that.

Good Luck
