cat5 lenght
« on: June 28, 2013, 06:26:32 pm »
Its probably been answered a thousand times so here's to 1001.. What is the maximum distance the cat5 can be from the hub to the ssc? I can't seem to find it in wiki or search..... I want the power supply to stay in my garage and run the cables to the ssc's... Maybe 50' max...

The year before the SS was released RJ tested 100' cat5 from the hub to the SSC with no problems. I do think he had less then 70 nodes on each string of his mega-tree.

Yes the hub to the ssc was tested at least 100 feet. The ssc to the 1st node was shorter. I think the v3 mod was around 6 feet and I think I remember the v4 was about 12 feet.
