Figured it out. Turns out I had the 2 voltage regulators switched  <fp. Thanks for the input.

Did it work after you swapped the voltage regulators? I did the same thing but when I fixed it now it won't let me set the start channel. I wonder what fried?

They can be picky, but I got mine on the first try for both.  Sometimes reflashing the pic will help them take the start channel.
