Troubleshooting help
« on: January 15, 2010, 12:28:23 am »
Just finshed the soldering of a LE v4
Smoke tested it and no 3.3 volt LED (the 5 volt LED does light)

I got to checking the BOM and I couldn't find the 3.3 volt reg I installed.
I use the BOM whenever I order parts. I ordered two sets so this didn't
come from a coop.

I installed a mouser 511-LD1117V33  3.3V 0.8A Positive ST low voltage Regulator/Driver.
Now I see that it is listed in the BOM for wireless - opps.

I have a 595-UA78M33CKCSE3 which I think is the correct part but don't see in the BOM but it
is listed in the instructions as a 78M33.

I thinkin I better get the solder wick out...  Or should that first part work and I should trouble
shoot some more...

No the Bom's have been updated and not sure why that is on the V4 as the second number is the correct one. But this is the regulator we changed out do to issue with real cold temps.

Pm me you address and I will send you a replacment that you should use instead. I will look into why it shows that.

The 3.3 volt reg was changed to handle colder outside temperatures

My error RJ - I do have the second part so I'll just do a little de-soldering.

Thanks for the quick answer!!!

Obvious questions...

1.  Did you check the polarity of the 3.3v led?
2.  Did you check the polarity of the 100uf capacitor for the 3.3v?
It's not about more, it's about enough.

Recently I saw a couple of posts. One was on DIYC and then I saw this one. Convinced me to go out and get one. I think its only about eleven bucks.
