12VDC Pixelnet Aether

The Ather II needs 12 VAC as a power source.  Without getting too detailed,  I recall RJ mentioning there was an issue with 12 VDC not being enough voltage to drive one of the colors of the LED.

Aether 2 should run fine on DC; the bridge will accept either polarity.  You will need to feed it about 17v DC instead of 12v DC to get around the various voltage drops (bridge, regulator headroom, reference voltage, and blue/white LED forward voltage).

yes it will run on DC but not 12 VDC.  The point of my post was to point out that more than 12 VDC was required.
