First attempt at a spiral tree
« on: March 25, 2014, 01:04:37 pm »
Here's a poor quality video of my first attempt at a spiral tree. Any comments or suggestions on the layout or sequencing would be appreciated.

I'm impressed.  You are being way to hard on yourself.

I'd be interested in the height and number of strings.  This would be a good addition to my display if I could engineer and easy storage option.

That looks good, Curtis, you did a great job.  How many are you going to have in the yard?

The tree is 8' tall and the base is 4'. I put 24 strands of 100ct incandescents, 8-White, 8-Red and 8-Green. Over 400 zip ties.  <fp.

Very nice!  I like it!  Inspiration for my first tree.  I haven't even gotten that far yet :(   Keep up the great work.

+1 on the good job. I never got mine right and gave up on it. Can you take some pics of your design and build I would be intrested in seeing your work up close. I have LED strings that were on my mega tree that I wanna re-use and make two smaller trees.

The tree looks great but if I might make a suggestion, the next one that you build, leave the structure white.  While painting the structure black on a flat 2D frame makes it disappear, on a 3D object like a megatree, it can actually make it stand out, especially when the lights in the back can be seen from the front.
