do I have to reflash the pic chips before I change channel assignments (start channel) on the zues? or can I just use the utility and reprogram start channels? have 16 and 8 need to reset the 8??????

I don't think you do.  I have reset my channels a few times with no issues.

No reflash is necessary.  You only need to use the SS utility program to reset your starting channel #.
