Lighting up shrubs
« on: December 31, 2015, 07:47:05 pm »
I have a lot of shrubs in my front yard (approx 200' x 200') that I currently illuminate with multicolor led lights.  I've always wanted to change them to RGB but I haven't really seen anything that I felt comfortable with as most RGB lights appear to warrant "mounting" in some fashion to protect the stress on the wire.  Is anyone out there using RGB for large shrubs?  If so, how are you attaching?

You might take a look at the pixnode net from Holiday Coro.  I have no bushes, but that is what I would be looking at.

Wow.  A little pricey.  Any others have ideas?

I really don't think that putting them in shrubs is going to put any excess strain on them.  When people are talking about wire strain, in most cases they are talking about a megatree where both wind and the weight of the string itself can put a significant strain on the wires if the string is being supported by its wires alone.  This will not be the case if the node string is being supported by the shrub.

How tall are the shrubs?  Could you outline them with a rail type system?  Look on YouTube for Johnson family lights.  He has a rail system around his shrubs.  Just an idea.

^^^   never thought about a rail system.   That really gives it a clean crisp look!
