Heat sink issue work-around
« on: November 14, 2009, 01:58:15 pm »
Hello all,
I just received my latest LE from the last coop.  Got everything put together to the point of the heatsink.  As I went to bolt it onto the board---the holes in the heatsink itself were not threaded properly.  After speaking to RJ I realized that I had a work-around for the issue and he asked me to post it.

My very simple solution was a slightly longer M4 bolt (screw).  I was going to use a nylock nut with it, but it grabbed just enough to hold the board on to the heatsink.  Make sure you dont get real long bolts/screws as these will interfere with the nuts just above the mounting holes on the heatsink.   I hope this works for anyone that may have issues.

Are those screws M4's or 4-40's?

I bought 4-40 x 3/4 inch from Home Depot for $.98 for 8 machine screws and nuts and they work fine.
