Troubleshooting a DMX Dongle
« on: October 29, 2011, 07:46:53 pm »
I'm having a problem with my DMX Dongle.  I flashed the memory as explained, and it appears to flash correctly.  I've checked and re-checked all the solder connections.  I get the steady Red LED when plugged into the computer.  The computer already has the correct drivers because other Enttec Pro compatible dongles work fine.  When I plug in and unplug the device,  the device manager assigns COM 16.  The one thing I do notice is that in device manager, the type of device is just USB not the FTDI that I see with other dongles.

For basic testing purposes I use software called Freestyler.  It generates the following error: Error Creating Output Thread,   In Vixen it tells me COM port errors.  When I plug in and unplug the device,  the device manager assigns COM 16.

I'm looking for some help troubleshooting this.  How do the "TEST" jumper pins work.

THanks
Thanks
Michael

Com16 is a bit high, set it to 10 or less

The test jumper is not active

Try RJ's DMX Deck in the wiki software page

In Vixen, also make sure that the software DMX is disabled.
