SSR4 Replacement Transformer
« on: December 22, 2011, 06:58:09 am »
Does anyone know of a replacement transformer for the SSR4?  The pulse  (673-020-5370-0) is no longer available.

Thanks - Bill A.

I was told that this is the same transformer that is on the DMX splitter.  If that is the case:

I went and googled the part number today and came up with a couple of sources.
1.)  Avnet had 3 and I bought them;)
2.)  A company called TTI has 320 listed in stock.  Problem, they only sell in lots of 40:(

I would love to be able to buy about 6 more due to the fact that it is the same transformer on the ssr4's and I still have a few to build, but I couldn't use 40 of them.

Would anybody want to get a larger order together on them?

Although I haven't figured a use out for them I am sitting on some SSR4 boards and cases.  Just learned recently that the tranny is done for.

I would like 4-8 trannys if this helps (need to do some digging to see how many I pcb's, etc I have).  I have to imagine plenty of guys would make 40 go pretty fast.

Mike  -  I would be willing to go in for 10.  If we could get a few more guys to jump in,  I thiink it's doable.

looks like we have enough people interested, but shouldn't we ask R.J. first?
Maybe make  a special coop out of it?
Certainly looks doable and this would be an easy one;)

I guess that another concern is what price are they selling them for?  I would like 5 to 10 of them myself but I don't want to pay $10 or more a piece for them

If memory serves they were 4.86 a piece.  Same price that Mouser had.

Memory mileage may vary:)

I checked with R.J.  If a Coop manager will step forward to run this for us than R.J. is o.k. with it.

Any takers?  It would be an easy coop with many grateful people:)

the problem with that, is by the time you go to get those transformers, they might not be available anymore, and that would destroy the coop

There are still enough out there nis someone steps up in short order.  Perhaps this would be a good starting coop for one of the new coop managers that have not run one yet.  If I were on the list I woud do it.

also remember that it's 4 dollars and some change for each one...  after someone orders them and pays for shipping to him (they are heavy) and then turns around and has to ship them to each of you, i'd be surprised if they were under $10 a piece...

I would agree that the shipping prices even in a coop would probably make the price for a single transformer $10, but most people that I have seen are looking for 6-10 of them.

That would ease the price per unit.
