Nutcracker: RGB Effects Builder / Re: Nutcracker and rainbows
« on: May 14, 2012, 10:29:21 pm »
Sean,
Your CLAP demo was much appreciated.
What techniques do people use to synchronize Nutcracker output / designs to music?
Making a rainbow out of arches is a distant second to what you do.
  Thanks,

Nutcracker: RGB Effects Builder / Nutcracker and rainbows
« on: May 13, 2012, 07:48:12 pm »
I attended a Nutcracker demo at the NW CLAP recently.
RGB lends itself to making rainbows.
Can I get a rainbow effect (a semi circle or less) using what's already available or do I need to ask for something more?

Lynx Smart String / Re: Seal Your Nodes!!
« on: September 25, 2011, 11:46:46 pm »
I appreciate the posts on sealing nodes, dehumidifying nodes, etc.
Am I correct in thinking that the Flexible strip nodes are water proof as manufactured as claimed in the product description?
"4m waterproof LED digital strip by tube (DC12V input),without controller,10pcs TM1809IC/m,30pcs 5050 RGB LED/m;DC12V input"

I am going to wait until next year for smart strings but I have angreat use for the flex strips.

Doesn't the cover really need to be opaque?
Like the way some people have used vinyl dryer hose for leaping light arches?

The Porch / Re: LED lighting prices to plung by 2015
« on: June 17, 2011, 11:27:58 pm »

The basis for cheaper LED lighting discussed was economies of scale and improvements in the manufacturing process.  Economical profit maxmizing mass production is based on quality control (e.g., pharmaceuticals, televisions, soda pop bottling, etc.)
I agree that the Yuan and copper will not help; maybe the prices won't drop in US$ terms.

I enjoyed this article about future lower LED lighting prices.

I detected subliminal messaging in this video.
While watching it, I developed a craving for popcorn and soda.
By the end, I was having I-don't-own-enough-Christmas-lights anxiety.
  Thank you for the demo.

Lynx Smart String / Re: Smart String Good Story

You are going to put a drop of epoxy on each of 5,000+ nodes?
I'd get a cramp!   ;D

Light Show Pro / Re: LSP and After Effects

Does is matter than Cosmic Color ribbons granularity is in sets of 3 nodes vs smart string singe node control?
Before I'd spend more money to get less granularity and control, I'd want to understand what I am giving up.
For the record, none of the gadget owning Christmas light decorators I know are perfectionist control freaks; not a one of them.
I will not be surprised if one or more of them equals or exceeds this very fine mega tree approach using LSP 2.0 and smart strings.
Is 1,000 points of lights controlled in triplets, really 333 points of light?
